Into the void

2702 A.D.

500 years since humanity's first interstellar voyage. Since then, many things had happened.

2320 A.D. The United Nation was disbanded and Earth's tension reached its peak. Nations who hold power in other planets found themselves at each other's throat due to resource conflict. Corporates, seeing the intensity, sought demands and act as instigator to further complicate the matters at hand.

The Attack of Rome was the final act that ended the conflict and started the war; The Third World War... or is it more fitting to call it The War of Worlds...?

The United States of Earth declared war against the Democratic Associates of Mars. A week after, Earth fleet sent asteroid and bombarded the largest ground military base of Armed Forces of Mars. In retaliation, Mars infiltrated the Space Station Armstrong in Earth's high orbit and melted its nuclear reactor, causing it to be destroyed.

Many civilians had died back then, and so, Earth sought sanctions from other governing worlds against the war crime of Mars. However, none comply due to the economic significance of Mars.

Cornered, Earth launched its very first Battleship. Wielding immense prowess, it acted as the first ever capital ship, capable of solely annihilating fleets of combat ships.

And it did won battles, it performed better than expected, mainly due to its unpredictable crews... and it won them the war. In the end, however, other worlds joined in. Jupiter's Alliance joined the war under Earth's threat of cutting it from the asteroid belt's resources. In response, Alpha Centauri's Earth colony joined Earth along with Venus' Terraformist.

For what its worth, it led us to here. People have more freedom, I guess. Corporates did have more power but not similarly to other interstellar nations. The Kingdom have immense monarchy authority despite the vast distance between its controlled system; The United States won the war and expanded for 400 years, making it the interstellar nation with most controlled system, and a few other insignificant nation, really.

But that's not really important now, isn't it? I mean... I just entered a fucking wormhole! A wormhole! Never proven theory since General Relativity and yet, a simple encounter with space anomly would lead me to this!

Sparks of electricity appears from the open wires as my ship [LANA] gone awry due to the distorted space. Time calculation is unstable and the gravity sensor is malfunctioning.

Though the control still function as intended, I remain it in autopilot to guarantee stability of the ship cause I don't wanna find out what happens if I exit midway!

As the situation gets hectic, light soon find its way from the end of the tunnel and relief began washing towards me... not until a forceful impact that sent me, who have removed myself from the seat, towards the back of the cockpit!

[WARNING: PRIMARY HULL DAMAGE DETECTED, INITIATING MACHINE OVERDRIVE]

The ship, covered in orange and yellow due to the fire formed upon atmospheric entry fades as LANA attempt counter gravity thruster.

[20,000 FEET ABOVE SURFACE]

[19,000...]

[18,000...]

Regardless of LANA's attempt to counter the fall, despite the heat dissipating, the thruster couldn't handle the high gravitational pull of the planet.

This is given since LANA is an exploration meant only to explore star systems and space bodies. She was not designed to perform atmospheric entry, much less to a high density planets. And landing properly on one is out of the question.

However, since her pilot is unconscious, she took the responsibility to at least keep the ship intact. But the future is not looking so bright as four out of ten of the thrusters are starting to malfunction.

She could use the propulsion but that might only worsen the situation, knowing that she currently have limited time to calculate.

[WARNING: THRUSTERS OFFLINE]

...

And the last hope dies out.

LANA took over the pilot's commanding system and initiated a forward thrust from the propulsion. However, the ship detected LANA taking over the system, causing it to lock the command system's access.

With only minutes to calculate, LANA bruteforce the lock and break the barrier of the command system, then, manually, she thrust the digital lever forward, increasing their speed horizontally.

Consequently, she also raise the ship's nose so that the propulsion can act as a counter gravity thruster. But in the end, it only lessen the impact of the crash.

Internally, LANA hoped to at least maximize the counter thrust... and using the full force of the propulsion, consuming worth 10 years of energy from the thrust alone...

Vbbvvbbbb

She was able to crash land it.

[WARNING: FUSION REACTOR UNSTABLE]

...

I was awaken by the unbearable pain souring through my arms. My sight is blurry and my head feels light. I could barely see the blaring red light of my surrounding as I reach for a support. The fuck just happened? My mind races as I slowly reach for the pilot's seat.

As soon as I sat down, regardless of my state, I went ahead for the navigation panel. There, black screen was revealed from the screen. A small dot, my ship, was the only light I could see.

When my sight starts to clear, I now found myself in a crashed ship. I look around, seeing the cause of this unusual state I am in. The blaring alarm sound echoes synchronous with the red blinking light.

[WARNING: T MINUS 30:00:00 UNTIL MELTDOWN]

What?! No!

I immediately left the cockpit, with blood still dripping from my arm, I went straight to the back of the ship and into the Energy Room. There I see the fusion reactor fluctuating from within the magnetic barrier. The water is barely staying put from the wild energy fluctuation being produced by the fusion's immense heat.

I reached for the lever in my right and immediately pulled it down.

The sound of the fusion reactor shutting down resounds as the back up batteries activate in response.

"LANA, how the hell am I still alive?"

I glance around the ship, and I could see that its a miracle I still lived. Looking outside the cockpit, I can see skies, dirt... and fauna?...

The burning sensation soon became a lot more unbearable, so I decided to get the stitches from the medbay. There, I also went ahead and get some few suppressants to ease the pain I am feeling within my chest, a probable broken rib.

"LANA, tell me where am I."

I asked as I sat on the pilot's seat and apply stitches from my arm's open wound. In response to my question, the viewport reveal countless amount of menus and imagery. If I guess right, it's the images and videos of my ship's planet fall.

So I can guess right that I am in a planet right now... and one where there's a thick atmosphere. It's impossible for LANA to crash on a world with barely an atmosphere, and fortunately, I didn't land on gas giants... sheesh...

I felt goosebumps just thinking about it.

As I analyze the video, I found out that the heat gathered from atmospheric entry breached the hull and fried the thruster system. That's expected, thruster are only meant to maneuver a ship in space or low gravity and low density atmosphere planets, it performs poorly within classified Exoplanets.

I also noticed that the shield went offline instantly... was the temperature immense that it immediately knocked my shield off? I've heard few rounds of whispers from fellow explorers and I never heard ship shield knocking upon planetfall in heavy atmospheres.

[LANA, send recon drones in our surrounding. Try to understand the area.]
