Broken little things

Kain Locke

I raised a finger to my lips, silencing her with a sharp glare. "Seems like it's not only Caspian who has his eyes on this package." I whispered,

Bella arched her brow, but the grin didn't leave her face. "This is going to be fun," she murmured, more to herself than to me.

Fun? I wanted to laugh, but I know only a lunatic—or someone as unhinged as Caspian, and his psycho crew—could think this was fun.

I motioned toward the back door, signaling her to take that route. "We split up. I'll take the front. And remember to lay low until you see my signal," Knowing her, I whispered, emphasizing on the signal, not when I know what she's capable of.

She gave me a mocking salute before slipping to the other side of the warehouse.

Front entrances were for idiots, but tonight wasn't exactly full of good options. Not to mention the crazy plan in my head. Yes, I planned to escape from the Dreaven's tonight and I'm going with the very package Caspian sent I and Bella to retrieve given that I'd spent several months planning, but it always came out futile each time because I was never given a lone mission without Caspian's son lingering about until now.

Abscond with the package without leaving any trail, sell it to a black market in a far country, then take the money from it to settle in a quiet and underpopulated city so as to have time to settle and get my revenge on the man, who killed my parents. That's the plan.

Sliding closer to the window, I peered inside, keeping my head low. I counted five men, One Alpha, three Beta's and one heavily armed Omega around the corner slightly far from where I was. One of the Beta was closer to the crate I planned to hide if I were to successfully jump in unnoticed.

I looked more inside and frustratingly so, the said package wasn't in sight, which meant either someone else had it, or we were walking into a setup.

"Great," I muttered under my breath. "Just great."

It was easy to climb through the no burglary proof window and I successfully slipped inside. Dust rose under my boots as I landed softly on the floor. Darting quickly to hide behind a stack of crates, I guess the sound of my landing alerted the tall Beta closer to the crate as his voice suddenly cut through the room. "Who's there?"

The sharp click of a gun cocking followed, and I ducked lower, pressing myself against the crate.

His boots was getting louder as he approached, I peered through the tiny crack and saw him glancing around, but having found nothing, he turned, deciding to go back, I was just about to exhale when his footsteps faltered, and he glanced back at his crew before coming to where I was.

This is bad... And having no choice,

When he was close enough,

I lunged out, wrapping an arm around his neck and yanking him backward. He stumbled, but I held firm, using his momentum to flip him to the ground. His grunt of surprise turned into a wheeze as I drove my knee into his chest followed by my elbow.

There's one thing I forgot to mention about myself, I was a trained fighter, even though I'm an Omega but an Alpha could only stood a chance against me if he's a Dreaven. Caspian made sure of that.

My hand was quick to find the garrote in my back pocket, and in one swift motion, I had it wrapped around his neck.

His resistance weakened as the cord tightened, and after a few seconds, his body went limp.

I dragged him behind the crates, taking a moment to catch my breath. "One down," I muttered, wiping sweat from my brow. "Four to go."

However a sharp crack of gunfire shattered the silence, and my stomach dropped instantly.

"Bella," I cursed under my breath, I fucking told her to wait for my signal!

More gunshots sounds echoed through the warehouse,

And i quietly removed my gun magazine, shoving in another one, knowing fully well the bullets left in that might just as well fucked me up when it'll be too late,

The gunfire soon stopped, and I quietly slipped away from the crate to tightly pressed myself against a nearby pillar.

"Look what we've got here," one of the men huffed angrily, dragging Bella with him and roughly shoved her to kneel. Her wrists were now bounded, and a gun was pressed to her temple.

My mind raced as I weighed my options. Four men. One gun pointed at Bella. There was no way I could take them all out without at least one of them pulling the trigger.

"Seems like we have rats lurking in this territory." said a Beta wearing ripped jeans and sleeveless jacket, proudly displaying his bulls skull tattoo.

Another one kicked her to the ground and she groaned, he yanked her up with her hair slapping the glare off her face as he growled, "Who sent you? Where are the rest! How many of you are here or I'm going to fuck your dirty cunt then put a gun to your head."

"Do you really wanna know who sent me?" She flashed a little smile despite her now swollen face, "It's a secret... A secret I would take to my grave, But.. i can make an exception.." she trailed off sizing him, "Because you're tall, and packed, can't say much about the face but bring your ear closer and I will say it to you, only... Only to you."

"Do you think you have any options here?" The skull tattooed man spat going to slap her face but the other one stopped him, "Leave it to me." he assured, squatting next to her.

"Now start spilling whatever you know!" he brought his ear closer to her lips.

His mistake, because Bella not only say nothing, she sank her teeth into the flesh presented to her lips and bite on it, spitting it out bloody, "I'd say go fuck yourself shit face!"

He screamed as he held his ear, blood running quickly to stain his shirt. "Dirty bitch!" he groaned, punching her to the ground. She groaned, spitting out blood, but more were rained on her. Kicks, spits, punches.

I could just turn and slipped away, although without the package, but I will still have my life, that'll be enough to lay low until i grew my wings and come for the Draeven's, however, she has always been my sworn sister.

Everyone that worked for Caspian were more of family and even though I hated belonging among them, but Bella and the rest were more like me, broken little things stripped from their parents warmth, bathed in their loved one's blood, go through a hell of a training just to work for the man who took everything away from them, therefore the last thing I will do is for these guys to pull the trigger while I was here, watching. Notwithstanding that what I'm about to do alone is reckless but..

"God helped me." I muttered as I got into action, firing at the guy whose ear was just bitten off by Bella piercing straight into his skull and his whole weight dropped on her.

Alerted, the rest went for their guns firing in my direction as the bullet hit the pillar and clattered to the ground. I never knew it was made of hard steel, I should really thank the constructor.

I peeked out, quickly aiming at the closest man and squeezed the trigger. The bullet tore through his shoulder, spinning him around before he crumpled to the ground with a pained yell.

"Keep moving!" one of them shouted,

I didn't give them the chance. Rolling out, I aimed low and fired, taking out the legs of the man closest to me. He hit the ground with a scream, his gun falling out of reach.

The one next to him was quicker as he fired wildly. I duck behind the stack of crates as bullets tore through the wood, showering me with splinters and sawdust from it.

I took a sharp breath, my hand trembling slightly as I peeked through the hole.

" Only two left." I breathed, quickly pulling out the magazine and shoving in another one.

However, when one of the two men stepped out, perhaps searching for me, or thought I was caught by one of those bullets, I wasted no time to fire, unfortunately this time, I missed, the bullet only hits him on his shoulder,

"Fuck!" he growled, scrambling back, giving me another easy chance.

But before I could finish him, the last guy suddenly went to grab Bella. My stomach dropped as he yanked her up, pressing his gun to her head.

My hands froze in mid air. "Step out, your hands up. Do not play games with me, step out!"

Slowly I revealed myself from behind the crate,

"Drop it!" he yelled after, "Drop it now, or she's dead! I fucking mean it, drop it or I will fucking pull the trigger!"

"Do it!" he barked again.

I cursed under my breath, bending down slowly as I set it on the ground.

"Good, now kick it over. Do it!"

The gun slid across the floor as I did. He quickly went to kick it away dragging Bella closer,

I was already forming a plan to attack him if by any chance he got even closer.

But before I could even do that, pain suddenly exploded in my head from behind. And I look back to see the bastard I thought I'd killed with the cord earlier, he'd struck me with the butt of his gun, I hit the ground hard the next moment.

"Kain!" Bella screamed, but her voice was now growing faint, every background noise turning indistinct.

I want to keep fighting, I want to save Bella, but I couldn't save myself, no less her. Was this my end? Would I really die like this? Unfulfilled?

Everything was turning blurry and darkness was taken over me.. i was surrendering to it, however a loud bang rang through the space, so loud i couldn't help opening my eyes, but when my eyes landed on him, the son of the very man I've now grow to know and hate, my body eventually gives in and i lost consciousness.
