"Settle down everyone." A lanky professor entered the class and beckoned to the students.
"Hey professor, I thought classes were already done with." A student sitting towards the back of the class spoke to the professor with an arrogant and defiant look on his face, well maybe the reason was he hated school or that the professor was just a mere E-rank.
"Yeah, teach. Isn't it over?" Another student shouted.
"Yes, do you lie now?"
Like that, other students in the class began throwing a tantrum.
Releasing a deep sigh, the professor pushed up his glasses and gave the students a stern look. Only then did the students stop ranting and after receiving his desired attention, he began,
"I know, classes are over, however this is important for you to know. And for emphasis sake, I will go through the brief history on how the next two years of your life is going to be."
"But, we've heard that story lot of times already." A girl raised her hand and spoke however the professor ignored her and continued,
"It's been 47 years since it all began. All of a sudden and out of nowhere, people around the world began awakening abilities. It was a thing of joy for many who saw the world as boring and wanted more fun, but it was torture for those who didn't awaken the abilities."
And as though on cue, everyone turned their heads to the lone student that sat at the back of the class. However, the boy in question just gave them a dead look on his face that said, "So?"
"Oi, Oi, isn't he talking about you." The same student who looked down upon the professor mocked him and his 'jokes' earned a round of laughter among the other students.
Vahn just glanced at him and faced the professor and before the arrogant student could display his anger.
"STOP" the professor stopped the situation before anything unfolded.
"Student Valen, you shouldn't pick on others." After giving the still arrogant one named Valen a light warning, the professor glanced briefly at Vahn then ignored him to continue.
'Just my life,' Vahn sighed and shook his head. This was what he had to face almost every day of his life and why, just because he was among those who didn't awaken an ability.
However, he didn't let it bother him too much, after all, this wouldn't be the first, neither would it be the last.
So, pushing that aside, he kept listening to the professor.
"However, before any further development could take place, they invaded us." The professor frowned as he said and continued, "The demons."
"They raided Cities, Countries and laid waste to the citizens in droves. The world was on the brink of extinction, then at that point, the remaining countries had to join together to fight this common enemy. However, our technologies were useless against them. Bullets couldn't penetrate their tough skins and our tanks couldn't give their desired results. But we needed a solution and that solution came from those people who had awakened abilities. They were all rallied together to fight and the alliance of this gathered individuals brought about what is currently known as, World defense alliance."
Maybe because of the way the professor was telling the history, but everyone was now so engrossed in his story.
They had all heard this story, after all it was their history, however it was never this detailed. At best they had heard them in bits from their parents, but not fully and the truth was, it was on purpose, and the reason was for that was currently been said.
"However there was a new problem, we had just awakened our abilities, we still needed time to get used to our abilities and even get strong enough to fight them. Meaning our solution was not sufficient, then like a savior to us, they came." Again every turned to their heads to the lone boy again, this was also among the history they were familiar with.
"The Mysterious family"
"There's no way, right?"
"Yeah, he probably just dyed his hair that color"
"Haha, he must've just dyed his hair."
"STOP"
The professor stopped the class again.
"S-So where was I, yes, with their characteristics dark purple hair and golden eyes, they offered their help, taught us all to know about abilities and how to improve our technology then they disappeared. Many believed we chased them away, or they abandoned us, however that didn't change the fact they helped us greatly. And because of them, we were finally able to stand our ground against the demons. Though things were still tough, we were then able to get data on the demons, like how their rank in strength was, making it easier to classify and their abilities and habits. And after 10 years of brutal war, the blades of the 9 supreme finally pierced the leader of the demons.
"After the common enemy had been defeated, then came the next problem. The war had ended, they still had their abilities and they were all humans. So naturally, ambitions began blooming from within the alliance. And due that reason, civil wars occurred and many fell out of the alliance and began forming their groups. However the alliance were still fearful the demons would come again, so a consensus was made. At a certain age, you spend two years in the alliance to get used to your abilities, train young adults to not run out control of their power and to teach the younger generations of resisting too much ambition."
A student then raised his hand and called out, "Professor"
"Yes?" The professor answered, hoping it would be a reasonable question, however,
"How possible is it to survive the association without abilities."
"I-I don't know" Which earned another rounds of laughter.
However, Vahn wasn't thinking of it. He was still in his thoughts of what the professor had said,
'So the history was like that.' Almost anywhere he went, he was always asked of his relationship with the mysterious family, however he didn't even know them.
Adults never revealed the full story because they were under an oath of some sort and only now were they told.
"And on that note, I wish you a good luck in the next two years of your life." And with what seemed like a relieved smile, the professor left the class.
"Wooo…school is over" It all dawned on them as a random person shouted what was in their mind.
"Haha…finally, I can join my brother's faction."
"What…hey, tell your brother to take me as well."
As everyone else were rejoicing with their friends about the last of school, Vahn was receiving his own special 'friends'
"Hey, I think we should end this school year with a beating, don't you think?" Valor stood before Vahn's table cracking his fist with an arrogant expression.
"Hehe, I think we should"
"Damn right!"
Some other students behind him backed him up. However, Vahn totally ignored them.
He just picked up his bag and stood up to leave.
"Hey where do you think you are going?" Valor stretched his hand to stop Vahn.
However,
SMACK…
With a heavy back kick, Vahn kicked Valor on his chest.
'Tsk…' However, Vahn hissed. He had certainly kicked Valor, and a strong one, however,
"Oi, Oi, is it a kick or a tap." Valor dusted his clothes and rushed forward at Vahn.
"This is how you do it." From his back hand, a greenish light materialized and formed a ball then he hurled it towards Vahn.
Stepping to the right, Vahn dodged the green ball, however a follow-up punch was coming from his left. Then Vahn bent his head to dodge the punch and immediately tackled him to the ground.
"You fucki-" Valor was about to curse out, however,
WHAAM…
Vahn punched his mouth with his fist. However he didn't stop there,
WHAAM…WHAAM…WHAAM
He continuously punched Valor on the face. It was to the extent that the students who had ignored the situation began converging. Even the boys who came with Valor were too shaken to move.
"W-What?"
"B-Blood"
"I-Isn't that..."
The students freaked out as Valor began bleeding from the continuous hits.
"S-Stop"
"D-Do you want to kill him?"
"Fucking maniac…"
They kept shouting at Vahn to stop, however he didn't listen to them.
WHAAM…WHAAM
At this point, Valor's had stopped moving. However Vahn knew better than to assume he was dead, after all the bodies of the ability users were more durable.
"You think I'm weak, huh?" Vahn stopped for a moment and asked the bloody Valor without much change on his face.
"Apologize"
WHAAM…
"Apologize."
WHAAM…
With each word, he hit Valor on the face.
"Apolo-"
"WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE?"
Snapping their heads to the voice, they all immediately dispersed. After all, it was a professor that just shouted, and behind the professor was a classmate.
'She reported?' Vahn glared at the girl before glancing at the professor.
"Vahn? What is the meaning of this?" The professor questioned him looking at Valor on the ground.
"Self-defense, sir?" Vahn replied as plainly as possible
"You call this self-defense?" The professor responded with a face turning to anger.
"It doesn't make sense for a non-ability user to pick on an ability user, don't you know this, professor?" Jon tilted his head sideways at the professor's question and the professor was lost for words.
His words made a lot of sense, however he wouldn't stand for it.
"This is a civilized place, report yourself for punishments."
"Yes professor, but I hope he comes to." With that, he left the class.
Everyone in the class was shocked at his change in attitude.
Vahn had always been the quiet type, and the type to always get bullied, however it seemed something was different about the current him.
Was Vahn secretly an ability user?
