Chapter 20

The city lights blurred into streaks of color as I soared through the night sky. My white hair whipped around my face, the air cool against my freckled skin. Below, the sprawling urban landscape was a canvas of potential threats. The past few months had been a whirlwind of intense training, a crash course in mastering my powers.

"Alright, Anos, time for the precision training," Dad's voice crackled through the comms of my tech watch. It was sleek and black, a custom-made piece of genius that housed a complex system capable of monitoring my vitals, tracking villains, and acting as my direct line to him.

I landed with a soft thud on the ground, the reinforced material of my suit absorbing the impact. It was a masterpiece of engineering, designed by Dad to accommodate my super strength, speed, flight, heat vision, my freezing breath, and more. Each aspect tailored for maximum control and effectiveness. It was a long way from the cape and tights. I adjusted my stance, the familiar hum of my powers vibrating through my body.

Our training spot was a secluded warehouse, a good distance from both the city center and our home. Mom, would have a fit if she knew how many things Dad had nearly blown up while training me. The explosions and sonic booms were not good for her precious garden gnomes.

"Heat vision, Dad?" I asked, focusing my gaze on a series of targets about fifty yards away.

"Use a pinpoint focus this time, Anos," he instructed, his voice a calm counterpoint to the fire that burned in his own quirk. "Don't torch the whole damned wall. We need it for tomorrow."

I narrowed my eyes, visualizing the concentrated beam of heat, and let it loose. A thin laser of incandescent energy sliced through the targets. I had once used this technique to dissect complex machines on the fly. Now, it was a tool for precision.

"Good, good," Dad said, a touch of pride in his voice. "Now, the freezing breath. Remember, the key is control. Don't just exhale; shape it."

I took a deep breath, the air rushing into my lungs, and expelled it with force, but rather than a wave of icy air, I focused it into a tight stream. It froze a thick pane of steel in a matter of seconds.

"Alright," Dad's voice crackled again, "Now super speed training. See those markers? Run around them in a figure 8 pattern. Remember to decelerate at the turns don't just rely on your momentum."

I focused on the course of cones and markers he had scattered and took off like a shot. I weaved in and out of the markers, my body almost invisible as I broke the sound barrier. It had taken months of constant practice to finally master the maneuverability of my super speed.

This was routine now. School, training, and then patrolling. It was the only rhythm left. I was Superman reborn. I need to adapt. Tonight was the same, but as I soared through the skies, my watch vibrated, alerting me to a cluster of villains converging downtown. It should have been a typical night, but nothing about tonight would be typical.

I surveyed the scene, landing on a rooftop overlooking the chaos. The usual local thugs were there, but alongside them were figures from my past life. Bane, hulking and menacing, Two-Face with his scarred face glinting under the streetlights, and Clayface, his form shifting like living mud. And then there was Doomsday, a behemoth of pure muscle and rage. The Calculator was there too, his fingers tapping away at a device. This was a cluster of threats I could handle with some effort. What I couldn't handle was the other half of the villains. Dabi's blue flames danced menacingly, Twice was multiplying, Toga's laugh was like razor blades, and a dozen Nomu stood like mindless, hulking brutes. What struck me dumb was the fact that they were talking... like they were friends. How the hell did DC villains end up in my world...and how the hell were they acquainted with the villains here? What did they even talk about? Who decided to organize this mess? I needed answers...

"Anos, are you there?" Dad's voice broke through the bewilderment. "You're awfully quiet, what's going on?"

I shifted uncomfortably. "Yeah, I'm fine," I said, but my unease seeped into my tone. "It's just... there's a strange mix of villains. Ones from my old world are mixing with this world and...they seem to know each other. It makes no sense." I described all of the villains one by one and paused. "How is this even happening?"

There was a long silence, then shuffling that sounded like Dad was getting up from his chair at the agency. "Give me 10 minutes," Dad said, his voice tight.

Then, I heard shouting, harsh and furious. "Hizashi! You lied to me! Explain this RIGHT NOW!" a very familiar voice yelled. It was Enji Todoroki, aka Endeavor. "I am going to end this before you make things worse!" Dad replied angrily.

My blood ran cold. "Dad? What the hell is happening?!" I called out, but his comms cut off, leaving me with a dial tone. This wasn't good. Had something happened to him? Was he ok? Why was Endeavor at the agency? I knew they had argued a couple weeks back about something but dad had been tight-lipped about it. I had to do something. I swiped through my contact list and went straight to the one contact I thought I would never use.

"Electro speaking," Kenji Kaminari's voice was rough, like he had just woken up.

"Kenji, it's Anos Midoriya," I said, keeping my voice calm. "I hate to bother you, but I need your help."

"Anos? What's going on? How's your family? Your mom doing ok?" he asked.

"We're fine mostly. The reason I called I was talking to dad through comms and when i mentioned the villains tonight, all i heard was dad shuffling and then Endeavor started yelling at him and threatening him." I told him what I heard about the argument dad had with Endeavor a couple weeks ago.

The other end was silent for a moment. "Say no more, I'm on my way. Don't worry, I'll handle it," he said, a cold steel entering his tone.

I hung up and let out a long frustrated sigh. Time to get to work. I refocused on the chaos unfolding below. Dabi was unleashing a torrent of blue flames, engulfing a nearby car. I wasn't going to wait for anyone.

I shot off the rooftop at super speed, the force of my landing creating a crater in the street. "Alright, let's get this party started," I declared, my voice resonating with an unnatural confidence.

Dabi turned his attention towards me, a manic grin on his face, "Well look what the cat dragged in."

I didn't respond, instead, I blasted across the distance between us, grabbing him by the collar before he could unleash another attack. Slamming him into one of the Nomu, sending both of them crashing into a building. Clayface shot a glob of mud at me, which I dodged easily, my enhanced reflexes allowing me to weave through the sludge. Bane charged his muscles bulging. But I met his charge head-on, a powerful punch sending him flying through a lamppost.

Twice began creating multiple clones of himself and surrounded me. I focused heat vision and let it loose in a wide arc, destroying all of them in one go leaving only the original. Toga had made a beeline for an elderly couple as she pulled out needles, but with a burst of speed, I ripped them out of her hands, and she was sent flying through the air as I backhanded her into a wall. I engaged all the Nomu. One by one they fell as I punched one through a car and another through a wall. Super strength was a blessing to have at a time like this.

I weaved through the fight, my speed giving me an advantage. The Calculator was still tapping away at his device and I went straight for him. I snatched the device out of his hands and crushing it. Before turning my attention back to the others. Doomsday let out a mighty roar and charged me head on. I braced for impact as I shot my freezing breath at his face, causing a layer of ice to form around his skull. He wasn't phased.

He slammed me into the ground and I felt the air leave my lungs. Doomsday had to be one of the strongest beings I had ever met, even though it wasn't like the first time I had fought him. I channeled my super strength and speed, and took to the air. I began circling him, creating a vortex of air that sent shatters of debris flying at him. With a final burst of speed, I caught him off guard with a powerful uppercut, sending him flying through the roof of a nearby building. He landed with a tremendous crash. I could feel the vibrations of the impact through my body. He wasn't down for long.

The fight raged on, a chaotic mix of powers and personalities. This was madness. I had to get to the bottom of this, but for now, I had to end this fight. I had to protect this world, my family... this life. I wasn't going to lose it.
