Dream(2)°

I gawked, words failing me. The blind boy nervously scratched his hair, his other hand squeezing his clipboard

"No-no, I'm fine" I quickly said. How many years has it been? He looked the same just a bit big and taller. His once curly hair was now straight and styled in a wolf cut. His eyes looked like more filters had been dragged over them, the green of his eyes now lighter than I remember

"..." I watched him walk away. Not sure what to do. Before I had realized it, Evening had come and the cafe was closing. I felt a light tap on my shoulder, jerking me out of my thoughts.

"Sorry to disturb you again but we've closed and you need to leave"

He was fidgeting. I looked behind him to see a group of three woodland elves snickering mischievously. I get it now, he's probably new to the job...and they assume I'm a difficult customer, so they want me to embarrass him

"Yeah... sure"

I stood up, slinging my bag over my shoulder

"... actually, can I talk to you outside for a moment?"

He nodded hesitantly before following me outside. The evening breeze was chilly. I cleared my throat

"Uhh...Hi"

"Hi" he responded with a soft chuckle

"So um...I-"

"-if this is a confession thingy I want to let you know that I'm not down for it. I just got my heart broken not quite long and it's still under maintenance"

I blinked.

"What?"

"Huh?"

"No no that wasn't my intention at all. It's me Elora, I just wanted to ask if you still knew me"

"Oh my gosh silly me!" His face burnt bright red, his head suddenly snapped up

"Elora?"

"Yeah"

"Institution of Arts and Crafts?"

Wow quite the memory you got there

"Yeah"

"Elora!"

"Yep, that's me" I laughed

"I know we are just meeting for the first time in years but is it okay if I hug you?"

"S-sure why not?"

He flapped his arms like a ice duck and wrapped his hands around me

"You've gotten so tall! I'm jealous!"

He was so soft to touch, I couldn't help but give him a little squeeze.

"Why didn't you say anything all day? I was literally waddling about in front of you!"

He whined into my stomach, the vibrations tickling me

"I don't know really, I just..."

"It's alright" he pulled from the hug and held by hands "The good thing is here you are! Oh and I haven't really forgiven you for up and leaving he institution without a word!"

I cringed at the memory.

"Come tomorrow it's getting late, I have so much I want to tell you!"

He ushered me towards the pavement "11am pronto! If you don't come, I'll make a cactus grow up your ass!"

When did he get so sassy? He was timid back then.

"You can do that?"

"Don't come tomorrow and see" he waved. I stifled a laugh as I watched him wave in the other direction

Well that's one thing about that hasn't changed at all.
