The red-haired girl stood up to ask the question that was on all of the class's minds.
"Instructor, if the Otherworld Beast has such a terrifying ruler, how come humans have not lost the battle against them yet?"
"Isn't the answer to that pretty obvious? " Charles muttered, but seeing the confused looks on their faces, he sighed.
" That's because humans are not the only people fighting the Otherworld beasts"
A wave of half-enlightenment hit the class. They had all heard of the fact that apart from the human race, other races lived on this and other continents.
" There are also many other Classes apart from us slayers who hunt down the Otherworld beasts as well, within the other races and classes, there are quite a few people who can match the Otherworld Kings....." he looked at Damien for a second
" However, the true reason we are still able to live in peace is that the Otherworld Monarch is not in this world "
With this, everyone came to understand the true reason the otherworld monsters had not yet won.
"But why is the monarch in another world? "someone asked.
" There are many world laws. However, you are nowhere near that realm yet, so I will just be confusing you, you just need to know that for now, the Otherworld Mornach cannot enter our world, so while we have this grace period, humans need to become stronger. And that is why you guys are here to become strong"
The room fell silent as Charles's words sank in. The thought of the Otherworld Monarch, a being of incomprehensible power, being restrained only by the laws of the world itself, left the students uneasy. Damien noticed a mix of fear and determination on the faces of his classmates.
The red-haired girl sat back down, her question answered, but her expression troubled. She wasn't alone. Damien could see the gears turning in everyone's minds.
Charles gave them a moment before continuing. "Now, before any of you spiral into panic or lose focus, let me remind you of something. The fact that we can still live and grow strong is proof that the balance hasn't tipped yet. It's not about fear—it's about preparation. You are the next generation of Slayers, and it's your responsibility to ensure that balance remains in our favor."
Damien's thoughts raced. The image of his mother's final battle flashed through his mind, the black dragon looming over her like an unassailable mountain. If the Monarch was even more powerful than that...
He clenched his fists. I have to get stronger. Much stronger.
Charles continued his tone cold but oddly encouraging. "That's enough theory for today. The next part of the class will be practical training. Everyone to the training grounds. I want to see where each of you stands."
Ten minutes later, everyone was standing in the Training hall under Charles' strict supervision, they all began a torturous Force Training section.
As they channeled the energy continuously throughout their bodies, some of the students with weaker bodies began to cough up blood and began to faint. Although Force was used to strengthen attacks, the amount you could use was dependent on the strength of your physical body. "
Running the powerful energy for a long time in your body had its own consequences, that was why those with weaker bodies were fainting, but Instructor Charles ignored those who had fainted and asked them to continue.
Damien was in a meditative position as he absorbed and channeled the force energy through his body, oblivious to what was going on around him. Hours passed in the training hall, and those who had passed out began to wake up.
Once they woke, Instructor Charles would tell them to stand aside and not disturb those who were still channeling the Force energy they were all disappointed as they viewed it as a competition between themselves.
Under Charles' elimination, only a few figures were on the ground absorbing the energy, one of those figures was Jason, the guy Damien fought the last time. Right now, his face was a shade of red; it seemed he was holding on by sheer willpower.
"He is quite a good seedling..." Charles thought to himself, his eyes turned to the red-haired girl who had asked the question previously,
" Another good seedling, and she is also from the Valehart clan, I wonder how powerful she will become when she awakens her ancestral bloodline." His head turned to the next figure; it was Damien's deskmate, the dark-haired girl. Seeing her, a bead of sweat formed on his forehead, and he unconsciously gulped down the saliva in his mouth.
" Why did she get sent to me...such a headache. " He sighed and looked at the dark-haired boy, who was also channeling the energy through his body unlike the other three, he looked completely normal...it seemed he was nowhere near his limits.
" Another headache, but I must admit that his highness was right with his powerful physical body added to the Force Energy, he might perhaps grow into the strongest slayer...if given enough time," Charles sighed, he had a feeling that time was not on their side. The Otherworld monsters were preparing a huge plot.
Twenty minutes passed, and during these minutes, James and the red-haired girl both collapsed, leaving only Damien and his deskmate.
The other students began to chatter;
"Woah... those two are incredible, how strong are their bodies "
"Who thought this newcomer would be so strong...Does anyone know which super clan he is from? ". Everyone was surprised as well.
The red-haired girl looked at Damien's face while thinking. " I understand that Velina is strong since she is from that place, but why is this guy also stronger than me?"
Jason was looking at Damien, too.
" In the end, he still beat me again," he thought with clenched fists.
Seeing that everyone had reached their limits except the two, he walked to them and tapped their shoulders. His finger contained a little bit of force energy, but that bit of energy was immediately able to dispel their own energy and wake them from their meditative states.
Damien opened his eyes to see the rest of his classmates standing behind Charles and looking at him strangely as though he had two heads instead.
The dark-haired Velina was also looking at Damien with a glint in her eye.
"Seems I underestimated him a bit, to last this long, he should be on par with me." Although she had been woken up by Charles, she knew she was almost at her limit.
If Damien knew what she was thinking, he would have shaken his head because, apart from his aching muscles, he was nowhere near his limit he could have lasted for an entire hour more, but fortunately, no one knew that, or these students would have started to doubt their very lives.
"Other than to gauge your physical strength, there are other importance of this exercise. "Now try running your force strength again."
"Again..." some people grumbled, but to their surprise, when they channeled their force energy again, it was quite smoother, and they felt a significant increase in their strength.
"Force energy training is not meant to just train force energy but to temper your flesh and muscles and widen your channels, making force flow smoother.
"Now, everyone line up." Charles took out a pair of sacks from behind a pillar and put them on the ground; they fell on the ground with a heavy sound that showed how heavy they were.
"These are hand and leg weights for you...I ordered them, especially for you guys, from the Dwarven Blacksmiths; these weights will adjust to their wearer's strength so that they are carrying twice their weights ...Till I say otherwise, everyone will be wearing these weights "
Everyone looked at him in shock, at this moment, the bored look was gone from Charles' face, replaced by a devilish smile.
Someone fainted directly.
'The demon had finally bared its fangs '
