Pyrofiend Alpha

Damien could hear the rustling of fabric behind him as Anna changed, and the silence grew heavier. He wasn't sure what to say, but he figured anything was better than standing there like an idiot.

"So… those Pyrofiend Hounds," he started, keeping his gaze fixed firmly ahead. "You took down quite a few before I arrived. Not bad."

A pause. Then, her voice, calmer now. "I had to. They weren't going to just let me walk away."

Damien smirked slightly. "Fair enough."

Another beat of silence passed before Anna spoke again. "You—Damien. Your name sounds familiar."

Damien's fingers twitched slightly. He had the same feeling about her. That nagging sense that he knew her from somewhere, but no clear memory surfaced.

"Maybe we crossed paths before," he said nonchalantly. "You are not a student of the Academy? Or maybe during a mission perhaps"

"Maybe...but I am not sure " Her voice was softer now, almost thoughtful. "Somewhere… further back."
