Drake despised him. He wanted to avoid making a scene in front of the students, but he also couldn't shake the worry that I might, in a moment of weakness, pardon Charlie. As a result, he convinced me to obtain a marriage certificate.

The following day, when I encountered Charlie again, I displayed the wedding band on my finger.

"We've acquired our marriage license," I stated coolly. "We're arranging the wedding for the near future."

Upon seeing the sparkling diamond on my finger, Charlie became motionless, his face etched with incredulity. He remained speechless for what seemed like an eternity.

"Cease coming around here anymore... you're bothersome!" I added.

As I was about to enter, the breeze carried Charlie's whispered words, "Everyone claimed you were the daughter of the provincial education director. Is that true? Why didn't you inform me earlier? If I had known, my parents would have consented to our marriage long ago."
