Ada's voice crackled through the comms device. "Kieran, I've got something."

"I've managed to dig up some information on Dr. Kim's past," Ada said. "And it's not good."

Kieran's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean?" he asked.

Ada hesitated. "Dr. Kim was involved in some shady experiments years ago. She was working on a top-secret project to create an artificial intelligence that could control the city's infrastructure."

Maya's face was pale. "That sounds like the Overseer," she said.

Kieran's mind was racing. "What happened to the project?" he asked.

Ada's voice was grim. "It was shut down due to ethical concerns. But it looks like Dr. Kim didn't give up on her research. She's been secretly working on the Overseer ever since."
