On that fateful day, I experienced the tragic loss of my unborn child during an attack by rival wolves. At the time, my partner Aaron, who held the position of Alpha in our Blue Moon pack, was out with Hannah, his Beta.
Upon seeing my blood-soaked attire, Aaron shielded Hannah's inquisitive gaze and uttered coldly, "Stay away from her, it's an ill omen." They then transformed into their wolf forms and departed swiftly.
I was heartbroken. How could my mate behave so callously? Subsequently, the rival wolf assaulted me, causing me to lose consciousness.
After receiving treatment at the pack's medical facility, I returned home to discover a black undergarment on our shared bed. It seemed they were now intimate in our own bedroom!
Unable to bear the emotional pain any longer, I decided to leave. I retrieved my mobile device from the nightstand and contacted Alpha Jack of the White Moon pack. "Hello, Alpha Jack. I've contemplated your offer and I'm ready to rejoin your pack."
Jack responded enthusiastically, "Wonderful news! I'll start the necessary preparations."
As the call ended, Aaron entered the bedroom, engrossed in his phone. His recent behavior had changed; since Hannah assumed her father's Beta role three months prior, Aaron's work hours had extended significantly.
"Were you speaking with Alec?" He inquired briefly.
"Actually, it was-" I began, but was interrupted by his ringing phone.
"Never mind. I need to take this," he muttered, answering the call.
"Let's switch to messaging, I'm not alone," he said before ending the call abruptly.
His phone signaled an incoming message, eliciting a smile from him.
Feeling dismissed, I pondered who the caller might be. Was it Hannah?
"Where are my nightclothes? You usually set them out for me," he asked, surveying the bed.
Before I could answer, he continued, "We've looked into the rogue attack; it won't happen again. How are your injuries healing? Dr. Brad mentioned they should improve soon."
"They're recovering well," I replied tersely, focusing on my phone's social media feed.
Dr. Brad had informed me about my concussion, fractured arm, and the loss of my baby - a pregnancy I hadn't even been aware of. My dream of motherhood had been shattered.
I felt Aaron's gaze but avoided eye contact.
"Who are you messaging?" he asked, to which I nearly scoffed.
Did he assume I was texting because he was?
"No one," I responded, still fixated on my screen.
"I-" he started, but was cut off by another call.
"Hannah, you're not interrupting. I always enjoy your calls, you brighten my day!" I overheard as he left the room.
Hannah was his source of joy, but what about me?
My thoughts were interrupted by a message from Zed, our Gamma, via WhatsApp.

He included a link, which I opened.
The video showed Aaron saying, "I apologize, Beta Hannah. I shouldn't have suggested texting when you wanted to talk. From now on, I'll comply with your wishes as your considerate Alpha."
He had previously denied having an Instagram account when I asked years ago after we met.
It was all deception! He simply wanted to hide his activities from me.
My phone alerted me to an email containing the transfer form from Alpha Jack.
I downloaded it, planning to print it the following day.
The next morning, as I finished my breakfast, the doorbell chimed.
I was about to answer when Aaron rushed from the living area to the entrance.
Moments later, he entered the dining room carrying two floral arrangements: roses and peonies.
"Oh! You brought flowers!" I exclaimed, surprised.
"These are for you," he said, offering me the peonies, but I hesitated.
"I'm allergic to peonies, as I've mentioned numerous times," I said, feeling my mood deteriorate.
He appeared shocked, protesting, "You've never mentioned this in our five years together!"
"I have. You can give me the roses instead," I suggested, reaching for them, but he withdrew.
His expression darkened as he coldly stated, "If you don't want the peonies, discard them, but these aren't for you."
"Who are they for?" I asked, my heart sinking.
Were they intended for Hannah? How could he treat her better than me?
He ignored my question and placed the peonies on the table.
I retrieved the black undergarment I'd found earlier and held it up.
"Whose is this?" I inquired calmly.
"I-" he began, but I interjected.
"Is it Hannah's?"
He momentarily looked flustered, "I don't know how it got here. Just give it to me, I'll return it to her."
He snatched it from me and hurriedly said, "Come on, let's go out for breakfast."
I was taken aback, as he never took me out to eat, yet frequently dined out with Hannah.
Moreover, we were in the dining room, and he should have noticed my empty plate, indicating I'd already eaten. It seemed he wasn't paying attention to me at all.
