Chapter 10

Ash stood between me and Kate, his complexion ashen and his fingers quivering slightly as he surveyed the scene with a mix of bewilderment and shock.

He addressed the captors, "What are your demands?" Ash questioned, his tone resolute but with a slight waver betraying his anxiety.

One of the captors smirked, leaning casually against the wall. "Demands?" he echoed sarcastically. "You should've considered the consequences before making adversaries. Though truthfully, we should've targeted Kate from the beginning. It would've saved us some hassle."

Ash's gaze flicked to Kate, who let out a soft whimper as their eyes met. He then looked back at me. His brow furrowed, appearing more perplexed, but he remained silent.

Another captor, wearing a broad, sinister grin, turned his attention to me. "And you. You poor soul," he remarked, shaking his head with feigned sympathy. "You tried to reach him countless times, didn't you? But he couldn't be bothered to answer. Not even once."
