A full week had gone by in this manner. Initially, I held onto a glimmer of hope for his messages, but that soon faded away.
I suspected he hadn't even returned to our shared living space.
My chest ached as I remembered the numerous evenings I'd waited for him, only to be left unfulfilled.
I waited endlessly, but he never appeared. This pattern sometimes persisted for extended periods. So, his prolonged absence wasn't unexpected.
Ten days, wasn't it?
Our last interaction was during my capture by his adversaries. His parting words were a curse, wishing for my demise.
I let out a bitter laugh. I held no significance to him whatsoever.
Checking the calendar, I sighed. December 5th.
It marked his mother's birthday. As per tradition, I sent her a heartfelt message with well wishes.
However, I refrained from visiting. I couldn't bring myself to do it. There was no purpose in showing up, feigning normalcy, when I knew the reality was far from it.
