Chapter 10: The Attack

Lyra's eyes widened as she watch a knife almost piercing at her eyes. If it was not the hand was stopping the knife, it was already dugged up on her head.

"Luna!" Gina screamed, her panic echoing through the garden.

"Get her inside now!" Albert barked, his voice sharp and commanding.

Gina grabbed Lyra's trembling hand and pulled her toward the packhouse. "Luna, we need to move!"

"What's going on?" Lyra stammered, her body shaking as her mind raced.

She caught glimpses of warriors shifting into their wolves and circling the packhouse. The scent of blood and the sound of growls filled the air.

Beta Albert shifted into his wolf and lunged at the attacker—a rogue hidden among the trees. Lyra's heart pounded as the scene blurred behind her. Warriors were everywhere, protecting the perimeter as chaos unfolded.

Gina led her down a narrow staircase to the basement, her voice low but firm. "This way. We're heading to the Alpha's bunker."

Each houses in the pack had this in case an attack happened. But the Alpha's bunker was different. They entered to a secret door and went to the tunnel. It had two tunnel ways, and Gina knew where they were going.

The hidden door at the end of the basement opened into a dimly lit tunnel. Lyra hesitated for a moment, glancing back toward the stairs.

"Don't worry. No one in the pack know in where the bunker is. Except for me, the Alpha, and Beta Albert," Gina assured her, pushing her forward.

They went to the first tunnel but didn't go through. When they reached the half way, Gina touched the wall and a door appeared. They went inside and another small hallway appeared until they finally reached a door made in iron. Gina entered a passcode and opened the circular lock.

"Please enter, Luna."

Lyra stepped into the bunker, her breath catching at the sight. The room wasn't large, but it was elegant and functional. There was a small bedroom, a sitting area, a kitchenette, and a series of monitors displaying live feeds of the pack grounds. Lyra's eyes locked onto the screens, where she could see warriors clashing with shadowy figures near the woods.

Gina closed the door and locked it immediately.

"What is this place?" Lyra asked, her voice trembling.

"It's a hideout design for the Alpha and Luna."

Lyra stared at the screen. She could see some warriors fighting with someone. The whole town where in claumor because of the attack.

"Why… W-Why is this happening?"

Gina shook her head. "We still don't know yet. The pack have a lot of enemies. But for now, you should sit down, Luna. I will get some water for you."

Lyra sank onto the couch, her hands shaking as she tried to make sense of the attack.

She still can't believe what happened to her. She almost die earlier!

Gina went back now holding a pitcher and two glasses. She poured the water in the two glasses and gave the first one to Lyra. Lyra took it with her trembling hands. Gina felt worried when she saw it.

"Don't worry now, Luna. I'm sure that the Alpha is doing his best to end this attack. You are safe here now."

Lyra sighed. She took a sip in the glass because she felt her throat was dry already. "But how about the other members of the pack? I'm here safe, yes. How about the weak ones too?"

"They are safe too, Luna. Each houses have this bunkers. We all know what we're going to do in case an attack like this happened. You don't have to worry for them. Our warriors are handling it."

"Really?" Lyra said in amusement. The Blackmoon pack was organized unlike her previouos pack. "No wonder this is the strongest pack in the country."

"That is because of our Alpha."

Lyra nodded.

The two of them waited in the bunker. Until the door they went in opened. Gina immediately became alert. But they felt relieved when they saw it was Alpha Kael and Beta Albert entering. Beta Albert was dragging a woman with a cover in her eyes and mouth. She was struggling.

Lyra stood up worriedly.

"Alpha–"

Alpha Kael's gaze softened when he saw her, and he closed the distance between them in a few long strides. Without a word, he pulled her into a hug.

"You're safe," he murmured. His voice was low, but Lyra could hear the relief in it. He let go of Lyra but didn't get away. He stared at her face. "How do you feel?"

She stood frozen for a moment before gently pulling back.

"I'm okay. But you? How are you?"

"I'm fine." Alpha Kael turned around and looked at the woman. "We stopped the attackers and saw this woman."

Lyra's eyes darted to the woman, who was forced to kneel on the floor. Beta Albert removed the blindfold, and Lyra gasped.

"We saw her near the woods as we chased the other attackers. She was begging for her life and looking for you, Luna," Beta Albert explained.

The woman moaned as she stared at Lyra.

"Sarah!"
