Sundel Bolong 1

Ethan felt the tension in the air as the doppelgänger's eyes widened in fear, a deep, haunting terror reflected in their depths. Involuntary tears began to well up, glistening like fragile crystals beneath the dim light of the room. "Hide!" she urged, gripping his arm and pulling him off the bed, her voice trembling. Confusion and concern flooded his mind. "Why? What's wrong?" he asked, desperation creeping into his voice.

The sound of draggy footsteps echoed ominously outside, each step resonating with a chilling weight that sent shivers down Ethan's spine. The air was thick with a nauseating smell of rot, but there was an unsettling sweetness layered beneath it, like decaying flowers mixed with something more sinister. It was a scent that both repulsed and intrigued him.

She shook her head, her expression grave, the tears in her eyes reflecting the flickering shadows that danced on the walls. "That's my mom," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "She will kill you." The weight of her words hit him like a punch, the reality of their situation sinking in.

Her gaze softened for a moment, but then hardened again with resolve, the fear in her eyes now mixed with an intense determination. "I can't leave. She's the only thing keeping me alive. I should have died years ago." The truth in her voice sent a chill down his spine. As the ominous sounds of the creature drew closer, the urgency of the moment intensified.

Pushing Ethan beneath the bed, she whispered urgently, "Please, just trust me. Stay quiet." The room felt charged with an electric tension, and Ethan knew that everything was about to change.

Ethan lay cramped under the bed, his heart pounding in his chest as he listened to the confrontation unfolding above him. The doppelgänger, Adhwa, had stepped outside to stall the creature, her voice trembling as she faced the being with its thick Javanese accent. "Are there any human beings around? This area stinks of a human being," it demanded, its voice echoing with an unsettling authority. Adhwa remained silent for a moment, fear evident in her eyes, before the creature called her name harshly in Bahasa Indonesia, "Adhwa! I asked you a question!"

"No mom, I assure you there are no human beings here," Adhwa replied, her voice shaky. The creature's tone shifted, laced with anger as it retorted, "Are you implying that my sense of smell is off?" The tension in the air thickened as Adhwa quickly countered, "I never said that, 'mom.'" The fear in her voice was palpable, and Ethan could sense the danger escalating. Before she could finish her sentence, the creature's hands stretched out like tendrils, wrapping around her neck with a terrifying grip.

"You just called me a liar, didn't you?" it hissed in Indonesian. Adhwa's eyes widened in panic as she stammered, "No mom, you don't understand..." But the creature silenced her with brutal force, slamming her against the cold, hard floor. The sickening sound of her body hitting the ground echoed in Ethan's ears, and he felt a surge of helplessness as he caught a glimpse of Adhwa lying broken beside him. She looked directly into his eyes, a silent plea passing between them as she gestured for him not to come out or make a sound.

"How dare you talk back at me, young woman! After rescuing you at the brink of death! You good for nothing..." The creature's voice dripped with venom as it loomed over Adhwa, who struggled to regain her composure. Despite her pain, she managed to adjust her broken nose and dislocated shoulder, kneeling before the creature with a trembling body. "I'm sorry, mother, I shouldn't have talked back at you. I promise to do better!" she sobbed, her voice cracking under the weight of her fear.

The creature's demeanor shifted as it approached her, lifting her in an embrace that felt more like a prison than solace. "See how painful it is to disobey me? Please don't make me do this ever again!" it warned, the chilling words hanging in the air. Ethan's breath caught in his throat as he watched this unsettling display, his instincts screaming at him to flee. But he remained frozen, scooting to the farthest corner of his hiding place, desperate to avoid detection.

"Adhwa, I still smell a human being," the creature said, pushing her away and sniffing the air as it tried to locate Ethan. Fear gripped Ethan's belly, an overwhelming sensation that felt like a growl echoing in the silence. He could almost feel the air being sucked out of his lungs, the weight of the moment pressing down on him as he prayed he wouldn't be found. The tension in the room was palpable, and Ethan knew that any sound could shatter the fragile silence, leading to an unknown fate.

As the creature sniffed around, its nostrils flared, catching the scent emanating from the room. It advanced toward the bed, its gaze fixed on Adhwa, searching for any sign of fear or hesitation. Adhwa remained still, her heart racing, silently praying for Ethan to vanish from this nightmare. Just as the creature prepared to flip the bed, a man—the driver who had brought Ethan and his crew from the airport—emerged from the shadows, lunging forward to stab the creature in the back. The creature let out a guttural roar before collapsing to the ground, momentarily stunned.

Adhwa let out a sigh of relief, grateful for the distraction the man provided. With swift determination, she vanished into a shadow that crept beneath the bed, seamlessly pulling Ethan out of harm's way. In an instant, they found themselves on the ground floor, Ethan bewildered as he glanced around. Before he could process what had happened, he saw Adhwa dart back into the hotel at an unimaginable speed, her form blending into the darkness as she returned to the horror grounds.

The creature stirred, awakening with a furious growl, its eyes locking onto the man who had attacked it. The man swung his dagger, but Adhwa's agility allowed her to dodge effortlessly, disappearing once more into the shadows. The creature, enraged, lunged towards the man, who had now leaped onto a bamboo tree jutting out from the window. It stretched out its hand, but the creature's grasp fell short, shattering the top of the bamboo with a thunderous crack. The man, displaying the grace of a ninja, slid down into the darkness below. As the creature staggered to the window, it hurled curses in deep Bahasa Indonesia, its voice dripping with malice. "Aku akan datang untukmu dan seluruh keturunanmu! Keluargamu akan ku seret ke kedalaman neraka! Kau akan menyaksikan mereka berteriak, tetapi kau tidak akan bisa melakukan apa-apa!" ( "I will come for you and your entire bloodline! I will drag your family down to the depths of hell! You will watch them scream, but you will be unable to do anything!" )The words echoed through the night, a chilling promise of vengeance that sent shivers down the spine of anyone who heard it. The man braced himself, knowing that the creature's threats were not mere words but a dark omen of what was to come.
