First Date(ii)

The next day.

Vincent woke up to the annoying ringing of his alarm by his bed side groaning. Even after his tight schedule for the past year and his overly early rising when he was in school by his mother in Nigeria, he still hasn't gotten used to it.

Rolling of his bed, he quickly did his daily quest then he had his shower after having his beauty care for 30 minutes. Checking his time it was already 10:30 am, he headed for the kitchen to prepare his breakfast which was just a bowl of cereal with milk.

Scrolling through his phone, Vincent googled for dating and flirting pick up lines but they were all sounding so cringe even for a newbie like him.

"Damn. What's with all this cringe lines?" Vincent muttered to himself.

"I'll just to go along with the flow and adapt," Vincent sighed to himself.

Immediately noticing the approaching Bogani, he quickly exited the page and put down his phone putting on a poker face which didn't escape Bogani's hawk eyes.

"Dude. We're you watching p**n or something in the morning?" Bogani asked, suspicious.

"What the f**k! Bro it's not like that I wasn't," Vincent explained quickly exclaiming.

"Sureee. Anyways it's not so bad, it's somewhat helpful to some people," Bogani said giving him the side eye.

"There's no convincing you isn't it? Well, I was just you know searching for some dating tips," Vincent said sighing.

"Ohhh..... Well you've come to the right place," Bogani said entering some kind of sage mode.

"Dude, I wasn't asking for your help," Vincent said rolling his eyes.

"Anyways, I heading to get my hair trimmed a little. See you later." Vincent continued exiting the room.

"You'll need me later Vincent! "Bogani shouted to Vincent hearing.

[That idiot]. Vincent thought shaking his head.

-----

Returning from the salon, he quickly had his shower then joined Bogani who was playing games on the console.

"So do you want to tell me about the girl, or?" Bogani asked still focused on the game.

"Well, she's Belgian, brunette, beautiful. We just met recently and after some conversations, well this. A date." Vincent said calmly.

"Okayy.... So this meeting is more about getting to know each other better, right?" Bogani inquired.

"Yeah... Hopefully I don't mess up," Vincent said wryly.

"Nahh broo, not with that hair and physique. Just act natural and be Vincent, you'll be fine." Bogani encouraged him.

"Yeah, thanks man." Vincent said smiling.

"Alright, run along Romeo. You don't want to be late." Bogani said scurrying him off.

"Hahaha." Vincent laughed as he walked to his room.

Entering his room Vincent glanced at the clock on the wall.

[Hmmm..... It's already 1:30 pm. I better start getting dressed]. Vincent thought to himself.

20 minutes later, in front of the mirror stood a light-skin young man, approx 178cm in height, his dark curly hair trimmed neatly, wearing a black leather jacket, a white t-shirt, black CK jeans with a pair of black sneakers.

Checking the time on his wristwatch, it was almost 2pm. He headed out of his room for some light lunch at the kitchen as Bogani cooked some noodles a while ago.

------

After having his lunch, Vincent took a ride to their agreed meeting place, quite a distance away from the apartment.

Paying the fare, he got out off the car, standing before a medium sized shop not too small but not quite big either. Entering the shop it had a quiet ambience, the designs and layout were nice and soothing, perfect for a meeting place but more importantly, the scent emanating from the shop made his mouth water and stomach grumble.

Randomly picking a table for two near the window, he sat down and a waitress came to ask for his order seeing him going through the pamphlet on the table.

"Good day sir. What would like to order?" She inquired politely.

"Nothing for now I'm waiting for someone. I'll call for you when we are ready." Vincent replied calmly to the pretty lady in front him.

"Okay sir." She said excusing herself.

Glancing at his wrist watch, it was already 2:45pm.

[Just about 15 minutes till 3pm, huh.] Vincent thought inwardly.

Just as he was contemplating, Zoë walked into the shop dressed in a thick blue hoodie, skin tight blue jeans and some new balance sneakers. Searching around the store, she spotted Vincent and quickly walked towards him.

"Hii Vincent. Have you been waiting for long?" Zoë asked apologetically.

"Not really. I came in like 5 minutes ago. I didn't expect you to arrive earlier than we agreed." Vincent said calmly.

"Yeahh... didn't want to be late but it seems I came a little early. Sorry." She said smiling.

"No problem. You look just as beautiful. I actually prefer being early to being late, depending on the person." Vincent said gently.

"Same here. Though you're dressed in almost all black but it's still nice," She said brightly.

"Well, I really don't have much fashion sense you see," Vincent said shrugging.

"You definitely need a girlfriend for that and let me guess you're single?" She said smirking.

"You're kind of right... but I have you what else do I need?" Vincent asked smugly.

"Ooh, that's nice to hear. So, how has your day been?" She asked hurriedly trying not to blush but her skin was giving her away.

"Well, my day just got better," Vincent said smirking.

Zoë was stunned not expecting that, which caused her to grin mildly.

"So, let's try the waffles before we continue, Kay?" Zoë said trying to avoid his flirtation of earlier.

"Alright." Vincent said waving for the waitress from earlier on.

20 minutes later, the two of them were finished with the waffles enjoying the aftertaste of the sumptuous waffles.

"So, I've always wanted to ask but never gotten a perfect opportunity," he heard Zoë say, her voice wavering.

"Alright. Go ahead." Vincent said encouraging her.

"Where exactly are you from?" He asked, looking up at her face.

"Ooh. Well you see, my mom is Italian and my dad Nigerian. Also, I was born in Italy and lived in Nigeria for than half of my life so, I'm both a citizen of Nigeria and Italy." Vincent replied calmly.

"Oh," Zoë said, smiling. "I really believed you were more Nigerian. But then, I guess Nigerians don't have such curly hair, do they?" She asked.

"Yeah, 99% of them don't. Just a few mixed like me or some with their recessive traits occurring." He replied as a matter of fact.

"I actually have a younger sister. She the same hair as me though hers not as dark or curly but it's still longer than mine and has an exotic air to it." Vincent added.

"Oh, I didn't know that. I'm actually the only child and both my parents are Belgian." She said smiling.

Vincent then went ahead and asked her about her career. Which replied telling him about how she started from college till this time truthfully.

"My main aim is to become a professional football reporter." Zoë declared.

"Alright, what are your plans?" She asked sipping on some coffee.

"Well my main aim is to get into the starting lineup or substitutes within the next two months at most," Vincent replied to her.

"I'm already on the team but since I have not been officially registered I cannot participate in the league this December till the transfer window opens in January." Vincent continued.

"That means you'll need to prove yourself to the coach that you're ready." Zoë said thoughtfully.

"Yeah. Enough bout me. How's life, work?" Vincent asked smiling.

Time flew by quickly as their conversation was flowing, soon it was time to part. Vincent tried to pay but was stopped by Zoë.

"Save it for the next time. I'll pay since I invited you." She said smiling.

"Alright then." Vincent said grinning as that suggested alot.

As they stepped out of the restaurant, Vincent waved down a taxi and paying the fare to her home.

Opening the door for her, she turned around waving. "Bye Vincent. I had a great time thanks." She said flashing a soul stirring smile.

Which caused Vincent to smile waving "Anytime."

Vincent stood for a few minutes watching the cab drive off into the distance before finally getting a ride on the bus heading home.

On reaching home, Vincent sat down on the sofa sighing, shaking his head grabbing a bottle of water before heading for his room.

[That was relaxing. Been awh

ile since I was this relaxed, but training is tomorrow the grind continues].
