I cast a quizzical look at Zane, raising my eyebrows. He instantly became defensive.
"What? We're just returning from the pack's medical center. I'm simply dropping her off at her residence before we head to our dinner." He retorted sharply.
I shrugged indifferently. "I didn't utter a word," I pointed out.
Zane's face reddened as he realized his unnecessary defensiveness. When Linda noticed me, she offered a gentle smile, though her eyes sparkled with delight.
"Luna Selena, I hope you don't mind. I apologize for holding up your anniversary meal," she said with a slight frown.
Zane grunted. "Why do you constantly apologize?" He chided. "You had a temperature, and you're expecting. Your health takes priority!"
I remained impassive to his words, simply dismissing them as I climbed into the car's back seat, leaving Zane and Linda in the front.
