Class Change

The Assassin Instructor didn't waste any words. With a simple wave of his hand, a golden light surged into Ethan's body, followed by a system notification ringing in his ears:

"Ding! Congratulations on successfully changing your job. Would you like to redistribute your free attribute points?"

When a player leaves the Novice Village and undergoes their first job change, they receive a one-time opportunity to redistribute their free attribute points. This is the only chance they get. This system was primarily designed to accommodate Mage players. Since they have no offensive skills in the early stages and rely solely on basic attacks, investing points into Intelligence would have severely hindered their progression. As a result, most Mage players opt to allocate points into Strength early on. Without this system, they would be at a severe disadvantage after transitioning into their intended class. This one-time reset makes the game more forgiving.

Ethan thought for a moment and decided it wasn't necessary. Apart from the 5 points in Constitution, all his other points were allocated to Agility, which perfectly aligned with the Assassin class. There was no need to waste time redistributing them. He directly selected No.

"Ding! Congratulations on becoming a great Assassin! From now on, each time you level up, in addition to your free attribute points, you will also receive an extra +2 Agility. Every 10 levels, this bonus increases by an additional 2 points."

Each class had its own unique bonus attribute points:

Warriors: +2 Strength per level.

Mages: +2 Intelligence per level.

Shield Guardians: +2 Constitution per level.

Archers: +1 Agility, +1 Strength per level.

Priests: +1 Intelligence, +1 Spirit per level.

The moment Ethan successfully changed his job, the experience points he had accumulated from staying at level 10 were immediately released. His level shot up to 11, granting him:

+40 HP

+20 MP

+10 Free Attribute Points

+2 Agility from class bonus

Level: 10 → 11

HP: 1710 → 1750

MP: 150 → 170

Agility: 76 → 78

Movement Speed: 100 → 102

Remaining Free Attribute Points: 30

Experience: 2060/30000

At the same time, two consecutive server-wide announcements echoed across the entire Zentaria server.

"Server Announcement: Congratulations to player 'Sealed' for successfully completing the first job change. As the first player to change jobs, the system rewards: Reputation +1000, Gold +50, and a special skill book. This announcement is hereby made!"

"Server Announcement: Congratulations to player 'Sealed' for successfully advancing to the Assassin class. As the first player to change into this profession, the system rewards: Reputation +500, Gold +20, and an Assassin-exclusive skill book. This announcement is hereby made!"

The back-to-back server-wide notifications once again sent shockwaves across the entire Zentaria server.

Sealed—again!

At this point, there wasn't a single player who didn't know this name. Since the launch of the game, this mysterious player had been making headlines nonstop. It was impossible not to recognize him!

"Who the hell is this Sealed? How is he this overpowered?!"

"Seriously! The game has only been online for just over a day, and he's already been featured in announcements at least three or four times!"

"Damn! I'm only level 8, and this guy is already changing jobs. I haven't even logged off since launch, so how is there such a massive gap?!"

"Someone please give me his contact info! I need to cling to this god-tier player!"

At that moment, in a different part of the game world, Sovereign glanced at his level 9, 50% experience and his face darkened.

Many top players from various Novice Villages furrowed their brows. Most of the true power players had already reached level 9, and this news felt like a missed opportunity.

"Jeremy, the first Assassin spot is gone!" Harold remarked with a sigh.

"Didn't expect him to choose Assassin. It's a bit unfortunate," Jeremy replied. "But Archers suit me just fine."

Originally, Jeremy had considered becoming an Assassin. The high crit rate and close-quarters combat appealed to him, but his talents were actually better suited for Archers.

"Alright then, if no one claims the first Archer slot before we reach level 10, you should take it," Nathan added. "I have a strong feeling that the first job-change skill books will be incredibly powerful."

"Agreed. Let's hurry and grind levels. Our Novice Village's teleportation array has already been restored, so once we hit level 10, we can instantly job-change. That's a huge advantage." Jeremy nodded.

"Yeah!"

Meanwhile, Sophia heard the server-wide notifications, glanced at the first-job-change rewards, then checked her own experience bar: Level 9, 45%.

Turning to Uncle Lee, she said, "Uncle Lee, for the next stretch, focus solely on boosting my level. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I think I can claim the title of the first Mage to job-change."

Uncle Lee nodded. "Understood, Miss Sophia. This is an opportunity we can't afford to miss."

Hearing the announcements, Ethan sighed in relief and immediately logged out to eat. He'd been gaming nonstop since breakfast at 8 a.m., and it was now nearly 4 p.m. His stomach was growling, but he'd powered through to secure the rewards.

After removing his headset, Ethan stretched and instinctively checked his phone. His bank account balance showed: $486,200.00.

"Holy… Almost half a million in a day and a half?" Ethan's eyes widened in disbelief. He'd been so focused on grinding that he hadn't tracked his earnings. Half a million—that was over ten years of work at his old $3,500-per-month job, assuming he didn't spend a dime.

"Guess this gamble paid off. All thanks to my talent." Ethan grinned but couldn't shake the question of how he'd obtained his mysterious talent in the first place.

After freshening up, Ethan headed out for a proper meal. He chose a mid-range restaurant near his rental apartment—a place he wouldn't have splurged on before. Today, though, he treated himself to a feast, ordering multiple dishes. While waiting for his food, he scrolled through his phone. The top short videos were all in-game clips, with the most liked showcasing guilds taking down the Wild Boar King. Watching these, Ethan couldn't help but marvel at the power of teamwork.

The restaurant was noticeably quieter than usual. Scattered diners sat at a few tables, most discussing Oracle.

"Can't believe how quickly this game's taken over," Ethan thought.

Just then, his phone rang. He hesitated before answering. The caller ID read: Mason.

"Ethan, you finally picked up! Do you know how hard it's been to reach you? Are you still in New York?" Mason's excited voice came through.

"Yeah. Why?" Ethan's tone was cold.

Mason's enthusiasm faltered. "You're still upset about what happened with Sean, aren't you? Look, about that—"

"Cut to the chase, Mason," Ethan interrupted.

"Alright," Mason said, his tone shifting. "Have you heard about Oracle? It's the future, Ethan. Sean's planning to start a guild, and we need you. You're the best gamer we know. Come to L.A. and join us. This game's going to be huge, bigger than anything before. It's a goldmine."

Ethan's lips curled into a cold smile. "Not interested. You guys can handle it yourselves."

Mason hesitated. "Ethan, what's that supposed to mean?"

"Figure it out yourself," Ethan said, his voice steely. "Don't call again." He hung up.

Taking a deep breath, Ethan's expression darkened. "Sean Foster… You may have the connections in real life, but in this game? You'll have to answer to me."
