The rubble around Liam shifted precariously as he tried to descend the pile. He had to adjust his weight carefully to avoid falling face-first into the debris.

Several times, he felt himself lose balance, but every time he was on the verge of falling, an invisible force seemed to tug him upright, keeping him on his feet.

Liam glanced at the smiling man in front of him, seeking an explanation, but Victor seemed content to let him puzzle it out on his own.

The silence between them grew heavier, and Liam felt compelled to break it before the tension became unbearable.

"Excuse me, but I don't think you explained what you're doing here. Are you the only one doing rescue work?"

Liam's voice carried a note of suspicion as he finally reached stable ground. He let out a relieved sigh but tensed up almost immediately when he noticed the curious and somewhat dark expression on Victor's face.
