Liam stepped out of the dungeon, stretching his shoulders as he adjusted to the warm afternoon sunlight. It felt strange, almost unnatural, to step out of a battlefield and into the ordinary world so seamlessly.
The air smelled fresh, untainted by blood or magic, and the bustling town in the distance was filled with the sounds of daily life.
If someone had told him just hours ago that he'd be turning a group of traffickers into his subordinates, he would have laughed.
"Are we finally going home? Because I'm starving, and I deserve a feast after my victory. "
Asger huffed from his perch on Liam's shoulder
Liam rolled his eyes.
"Your victory?"
Asger flicked his tail against Liam's cheek.
"Of course! Who do you think those fools bowed to? Me, obviously."
Liam sighed but didn't argue. It wasn't worth it.
He started making his way back to the estate where Elder Elias was waiting.
