Cafeteria.

Bailey

"Miss Harper" Mr Matthews says as I walk past his desk.

"Yes?"

"The dean mentioned that you'll be my assistant from now on" he holds out a paper for me "Here's a schedule for you to follow. Just to make it easier"

I take the paper and frown down at it "Sorting through files on a Saturday? That hardly seems fair, Mr Matthews"

"Well life isn't fair so deal with it." He snaps.

My head pull back in surprise at his harsh tone "I know you probably didn't want me to be your assistant but this a favour to the dean on my part. I hope you don't think I'm doing this on purpose to be close to you or anything"

His eyes narrow "Not everything is about you, Miss Harper"

"Then why are you being so mean all of a sudden?" I ask genuinely confused "Is this about me trying to kiss you? I already said I'm sorry."

He shakes his head "It's not about you and it's surely not about you trying to seduce me."

My mouth falls open in disbelief "I beg you pardon? I was doing no such thing."

He scoffs and opens his mouth to say something but closes it again and we both glance to the door when Maya walks in and she pauses in surprise when she sees me "Bailey? How are you doing, dear?"

"I'm good thank you" She nods and glances between Mr Matthews and I, so I say "I'll see you later for our session, yeah?"

"Of course" she says with a smile

I nod and glance at Mr Matthews to find his eyes on me and without saying anything I just take the stupid schedule and leave, leaving them to discuss whatever boring things professors talk about.

I'm sitting on Liliana's bed as she paints my nails and she ask "How was your witch session?"

"Fine" I shrug "Maya was rather impressed that I could light up a room full of candles, she was under the impression I couldn't do anything with my magic."

"Silly of her to think otherwise, you should've mentioned how you practice every night by lighting up candles in your room"

"I should've yeah" I agree and I watch as she continues doing my nails while we listen to the music playing as background noise. "Have you ever thought about just running away, going somewhere where no one knows you and changing your name to Bob?"

"No" she says instantly and I glance at her with a frown for bursting my bubble "I'll probably change my name to Silver or something"

I burst out laughing and she laughs too, we glance to her bedroom door when it opens to see Tyler standing there "What's so funny?"

"Never mind that" Liliana says and gestures to him "What's with the outfit? You going somewhere?"

"Yes actually. A few of us are heading to the cafeteria"

I tilt my head "But it's closed"

"No shit, Sherlock" he lets out a laugh "They usually leave the back door open in case of emergencies when the students need to evacuate there. But tonight it's a party venue"

Liliana and I share a glance in surprise and she says "A party on campus? That's risky and very stupid"

"What's life without risks? Feel free to join us, ladies" he winks before leaving and I glance at Liliana, I immediately know she's going to the party just by seeing the look on her face. She lives for living on the edge and you know what? Fuck it. I want to live on the goddamn edge too.

"Let me change" I say as I get off her bed

She claps "Yes! The Queen has finally left her shell and let the bitch out." I laugh and shake my head at her dramatics "Wait, I have a cute dress that I think would suit you"

I blink "Are you sure? I don't want to seem like I'm using your things"

She waves her hand dismissively "I know you wouldn't and I want you to wear it, Bails"

I groan "Fine, give it to me"

"Yes!" She hops off her bed and goes through the clothes in her closet, it's no secret that Liliana is stinking rich. I may have searched her up when I met her and I was surprised to find that her father donated tons of money to the school. I'm just glad that Lili is the fun kind of rich and not the stuck up kind. I'm glad that neither of my roommates are the stuck up rich.

After an extreme makeover Liliana and I finally reach the cafeteria and the vibe is completely different compared to the party in the woods. There isn't any loud music playing instead it's on a low volume enough for us to hear, here aren't tons of people and no one's smoking. Liliana leads the way to the drinks and pass one to me, I drink as I glance around trying to see if I recognise anyone besides my two roommates. I spot Marcus in the corner and I wave at him, he gives a half-hearted wave back before looking away again and I glance at Liliana to see her staring at him intently

"Stalker much?" I ask in amusement

Her eyes snap to me "Stalker? Me? I don't know what the hell you're talking about."

I raise an eyebrow "It was a joke, Lil."

She lets out a small laugh "Right, of course." She shakes her head "Do you want to go dance together?"

"Sure"

It's been two hours and we are still at the party when my phone vibrates in my purse and I frown when I see a call from an unsaved number.

I glance at Lili who's dancing with a guy and mouth "I'll be back."

She gives a thumbs up and I head outside before answering my phone. "Hello?"

"Miss Harper" a deep familiar voice drawls "I know it's late but I need your help"

I frown "With what exactly?"

"I have a deadline tomorrow and I'm far from finished, as my assistant would you please help me out?"

I bite my bottom lip as I glance back to the cafeteria, I do want to continue partying but a small part of me wants to see Eli.

"Okay, I'll help you"

"Great I'll text you what building my room is in"

And without he hangs up and I blink about thousand times, because my drunk brain didn't realise I had to go to his place until he mentioned it.

Shit, I need mouthwash.
