Chapter 9

The staff unlocked the venue doors, and Victor hastily dried his eyes and got to his feet.

After concluding my business, he lingered, anticipating the company vehicle that never showed up.

His assistant repeatedly expressed remorse, her voice laden with shame. Victor exhaled deeply, dismissing her concerns.

"Don't worry about it. I'm by myself. There's no hurry."

The assistant's eyes welled up with tears.

"Sir, Kendra is no longer with us. You need to look after yourself."

Their conversation revealed that my sibling hadn't eaten or rested since recovering my remains the previous day.

Witnessing my once-arrogant brother now so worn and fragile filled me with sorrow and regret.

I had believed he loathed me, scorned me, and meant every harsh word he'd ever uttered.

But now, I understand how mistaken I was.

When the car finally pulled up, Victor addressed his assistant.

"Inform everyone at the office to take the day off. We face a challenging confrontation tomorrow."
