Chapter 9: Hoarding

Lyka took out a necklace beneath her collar.

It was a necklace that has a small bottle with sparkling water inside.

Jake eyes sparkled with desire as he look at the necklace.

It was not that the necklace is special or anything but the sparkling water inside the small glass bottle is!

It was this sparkling water is the reason how they safely entered the basement before, even with multiple crazed people attacking them.

Just a small drop can make evil spirit burn but not enough to kill them but more than enough to stop them at their tracks.

It was good life saving item.

It was because of its effect that they survive, spraying the madman that dared to attack them.

But they can still die brutally when they goy surrounded that's why they still here.

"Deal!"

Jake stretch his hands towards the necklace but before he grab it Lyka pull it back and put it in her pocket.

Lyka look at Jake whose expression becoming angry and said.

"Do your job first!"

Jake coldly look at her before turning around to the direction of the noise.

Stealing is not an option here, he is not confident about defeating her and if others also going to involve, unity is important in their situation.

Actually Lyka don't want to give this thing away but considering their situation she can only resort to this.

She don't want to head first in the enemy that's too much risk.

She can't keep it in the after life after all.

And it's not like she can't keep this, if Jake dies she can still keep it.

Jake started to walk gripping his weapon tightly.

Walking silently step by step until they reach the source of noise.

There they saw a guy covered in blood all over his body hoarding the supplies from the selves and putting it inside his multiple bags and backpack.

Seeing this the group is confused.

Do madmen usually hoard supplies around?

They knew that this madman is out of the ordinary and involved supernatural.

Like they have read before in the news that this madman is possessed by so called dark spirits and make them massacre people here and there.

They don't seems to need to eat but they need to kill so seeing this one change their perception about them as no one sane is in this state.

A body full of dried blood from head to toe and even some and a bloodied axe inserted in his pants.

This guy is definitely not normal... definitely a madman!

Who knows how many people this madman killed.

Spending no more time they approach him from behind slowly with Jake leading the team.

They need to knock this madman so they can hoard supplies with worry.

They know they can't kill him as dark spirits from within them will broke out and possessed them instead.

As there was no information about how to deal with dark spirits they can only resort to this.

Walking towards the madman they preyed that it would not turn around and attack them instead but alas.

The madmans body suddenly stop then like a bolt of lightning it rush towards Jake whose only 3 meters behind him taking out it's axe in a lightning process and swung it directly towards Jake's head.

It happened so fast they don't know how to react.

Fortunately the axe wielding man stop before he could kill Jake.

Jake fall onto his knees as the axe wielding man look at them with it's cold red eyes seems indifferent and cold.

Making them all shiver and want to run away but they cannot move their body.

Back to Vale_POV_

Looking at the disheveled people he was happy inside.

He take back the axe he aimed at the man in front of him and put it beside his belt.

"Hello..."

Vale spoke to them.

He forgive their earlier action of attacking him as he really look like a madman right now with his body full of blood.

"Hiek... Please don't kill me"

The four people knelt to the ground and beg for Vale to spare their life.

"Huh?"

"Why would I kill you?"

Vale asked dumbly.

"Your not gonna kill us?"

"Your not possessed are you?"

"Do want to torture us?"

"Please let us go I beg you..."

Vale was confuse as this people beg him to spare their life but he didn't want it either way.

"Wait!"

"I'm not possessed by evil spirits "

"So you can relax!"

Vale rise his eyebrow as he spoke to them.

I'm I really that scary?

He thought.

"Are you really not gonna kill us?"

Lyka questioned.

"Yes"

"If I really want to kill you all you'd be dead already!"

Vale becoming irritated at their repetitive questions.

Hearing Vale continuously affirm then.

Their tense muscles significantly relax.

"Well..."

"Where you guys going?"

Vale questioned as he continue to hoard food supplies he like.

"Err..."

Lyka look towards her group like asking for confirmation.

They still look scared and tense and they seems to not in the mood to think right now.

Seeing this she make a move in the behalf of her group of four people.

This guy is surely strong looking at his care free expression and earlier strength he showed.

He was strong if he survived till now.

If he could join their group then they have survivability will surely increase.

"Uhm... Where heading towards the safe zone near us"

"Oh... The MSU collage safe zone?"

"I'm also heading their!"

Vale don't have an idea of traveling in a group as there was a chance of betrayal and they where just weight him down.

"But I'm heading there alone!"

He know what this woman think and he don't want to be part of it.

"T-then... Can we just follow along?"

Lyka ask again.

"Hmm... Suit yourself"

Vale think for a moment before answering.

If they can't keep up with him then it's their fault.

Vale continue his hoarding journey as he also took countless cart with him and tied it with each other.

He know that food will become a scarce resource soon, as even in the peace time food is expensive what about now?

Others also follow the suit of hoarding supplies but they only take limited to what they can carry without it becoming a hindrance.

They also rise an eyebrow about what Vale's is doing, do he really can carry that much?
