I whirled around suddenly, coming face to face with Ethan Williams' reddened eyes. His expression contorted with rage, causing my pulse to quicken involuntarily.

"Is this the reason you dressed as if attending a funeral? To visit your deceased paramour?" His words were cutting, dripping with bitterness.

"Had I not trailed you due to a nagging suspicion, I would've remained oblivious to the fact that I've been merely a replacement for half a decade. Zoe, you've truly outdone yourself this time."

Ethan's gaze seethed with the intensity of an untamed beast.

Previously, I would have been gripped by fear, terrified at the prospect of his departure. However, now that these hidden truths were exposed, I felt an unexpected sense of calm.

I rose slowly, just as a sudden breeze swept through. It caught the medical report I had placed on the grave, sending it sailing through the air until it landed directly at Ethan's feet.
