The Forgotten World was supposed to be ancient, mysterious, and ominous. And sure, it looked that way. But as Kael and his friends began to explore, it became clear this world was… well, a little odd.
The glowing rivers? They burbled with a sound eerily similar to someone blowing raspberries. The towering trees? Their leaves sparkled like diamonds, but if you plucked one, the tree would let out a high-pitched scream so startling that Eryn nearly fell into a bush. And that bush? It retaliated by slapping him in the face with one of its branches.
"I don't think this world likes us," Eryn said, rubbing his cheek. "Or maybe it just doesn't like me."
Finn snorted. "Well, considering your track record with plants, I'm not surprised."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Eryn shot back, offended.
Lyria, as usual, remained calm. She knelt by one of the glowing rivers, studying the strange, burbling water. "This place is alive in ways we don't understand. Everything here reacts to us, like it's testing us."
Kael, meanwhile, was more concerned about the fact that his stomach was growling. "Alive or not, I'm starving. Are any of these screaming trees edible?"
"I wouldn't try it," Lyria warned, but it was too late. Kael had already reached for a fruit hanging from one of the trees.
The moment he plucked it, the tree let out a dramatic gasp. "How dare you!" it shrieked, in a voice that sounded suspiciously like a cranky grandmother.
Kael jumped back, dropping the fruit. "It talks?!"
The tree wobbled, its branches shaking indignantly. "Of course, I talk! And now you've RUINED my best fruit. Do you know how long it takes to grow one of those? Longer than you've been alive, you ungrateful twig thief!"
Eryn doubled over laughing. "Twig thief! Oh, Kael, that's your new nickname forever."
Kael glared at him. "This is NOT funny!"
"It's hilarious," Finn chimed in, barely holding back his own laughter.
The tree, apparently still offended, smacked Kael on the back of the head with one of its smaller branches. "Take your sticky human fingers elsewhere!"
"Fine, fine!" Kael muttered, retreating.
As they continued through the forest, the bizarre encounters didn't stop. At one point, they came across a field of flowers that sang in harmony whenever anyone stepped near them. The song was beautiful… until Finn sneezed. The flowers immediately went silent, then burst into a chorus of angry screeches.
"You've insulted them!" Lyria hissed as the flowers started pelting them with tiny, glowing seeds.
"How was I supposed to know they're sensitive?!" Finn shouted, ducking as a particularly large seed hit him square in the nose.
By the time they escaped the field, they were all covered in glowing, sticky sap from the seeds.
"This world is insane," Kael muttered, trying (and failing) to wipe the sap off his face.
"And it hates us," Eryn added. "Definitely hates us."
But the biggest fiasco came when they stumbled upon a group of creatures that looked like a cross between rabbits and armadillos. They were cute—adorably so—with their big eyes and twitching noses.
"Aww," Lyria said, kneeling to get a closer look at one of the creatures. "They're harmless."
The creature stared up at her, unblinking. Then, without warning, it let out a high-pitched war cry and launched itself at her face.
"AHH!" Lyria screamed, flailing as the creature clung to her head, its tiny claws tangled in her hair.
Eryn, trying to help, picked up a stick. "Hold still! I'll get it off!"
"DON'T YOU DARE HIT ME WITH THAT!" Lyria shouted, swatting at him.
Meanwhile, more of the creatures were emerging from the bushes, their war cries echoing through the forest.
"RUN!" Kael yelled, and they bolted, the rabbit-armadillo army hot on their heels.
By the time they managed to lose the creatures, they were breathless, battered, and covered in scratches.
"I take it back," Kael panted. "This place doesn't just hate us—it's trying to kill us."
Finn collapsed onto the ground, glaring at the sky. "I can't believe I almost got taken out by a rabbit. A rabbit. How am I supposed to look cool after that?"
"You were never cool to begin with," Eryn said, grinning.
Lyria shot them both a withering look. "Can we focus, please? This is supposed to be a serious journey. We're not here to play around."
"Tell that to the psycho trees and killer bunnies," Kael muttered.
Despite the chaos, the group couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of their situation. The Forgotten World was dangerous, yes, but it was also ridiculous in ways none of them had expected.
