The confrontation

Chapter 12: Confrontation

Sarah was sitting at her desk, trying to focus on her work, when Lisa appeared out of nowhere, her face twisted in a scowl.

"Sarah, can I talk to you for a minute?" Lisa asked, her voice dripping with malice.

Sarah's instincts told her to be wary, but she tried to remain calm. "What's up, Lisa?"

Lisa's eyes narrowed. "I know what's going on between you and Jake. And let me tell you, it's completely unprofessional."

Sarah's heart began to pound, but she stood her ground. "I don't know what you're talking about, Lisa."

Lisa sneered. "Don't play dumb, Sarah. Everyone in the office knows about your little affair. And let me tell you, it's not going to end well."

Sarah felt a surge of anger, but she tried to keep her cool. "Lisa, I don't know what your problem is, but I'm not going to engage in a conversation about my personal life."

Lisa's face turned red with rage. "You think you're so perfect, don't you? But you're not. You're just a hypocrite, pretending to be all professional and stuffy, but really you're just a slut."

Sarah's eyes widened in shock, and she felt a stinging sensation in her eyes. She tried to speak, but her voice caught in her throat.

Just as it seemed like Lisa was about to continue her tirade, Jake appeared out of nowhere, his face dark with anger.

"Lisa, that's enough," he growled. "You have no right to speak to Sarah like that."

Lisa's face faltered, and she took a step back, her eyes darting nervously between Jake and Sarah.

"I was just trying to protect the company's reputation," Lisa stammered.

Jake's eyes narrowed. "You're not protecting anything, Lisa. You're just being a bully. And it's going to stop, right now."

The confrontation left Sarah shaken, and she felt a wave of gratitude towards Jake for standing up for her. But as she looked at Lisa, she knew that this wasn't the end of the drama. Lisa was not going to go down without a fight.
