Chapter 28: The Proposal
Jake had been planning the perfect proposal for weeks. He wanted it to be romantic, memorable, and meaningful. He had chosen a beautiful spot overlooking the city, with a stunning view of the sunset.
As they arrived at the spot, Sarah couldn't help but notice the romantic setup. There were candles, flowers, and a beautiful picnic spread out before them. She felt a sense of excitement and trepidation, wondering what Jake had planned.
As they sat down to eat, Jake took Sarah's hand and looked into her eyes. "Sarah, from the moment I met you, I knew that you were someone special," he said, his voice filled with emotion. "You light up my world in ways that I never thought possible. You are my best friend, my partner, and my soulmate."
Sarah's heart was racing as Jake pulled out a small box and got down on one knee. "Sarah, will you move in with me?" he asked, his eyes shining with hope.
Sarah was taken aback. She had been expecting a proposal of marriage, not a proposal to move in together. She hesitated, unsure of what to say.
Jake looked up at her, his face filled with concern. "Sarah, what's wrong?" he asked. "I thought you would be happy about this."
Sarah took a deep breath, trying to gather her thoughts. "Jake, I am happy," she said. "But I'm also scared. Moving in together is a big step, and I'm not sure if I'm ready."
Jake nodded, understanding. "I know it's a big step," he said. "But I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Sarah. I want to wake up every morning with you by my side. I want to build a life together."
Sarah's heart melted at Jake's words. She knew that she loved him, and she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him too. But she was still scared, still unsure if she was ready to take this big step.
"I need some time to think," she said finally, looking up at Jake with tears in her eyes.
Jake nodded, smiling. "Take all the time you need," he said. "I'll be here, waiting for you."
