Chapter 2

My marriage to Vivienne was purely accidental.

A few years ago, I was selling face masks through my social media network.

At that time, Vivienne was still my boss. When she saw my posts, she asked me to deliver the masks to her personally.

As fate would have it, the day I handed her the masks, an ambulance took away several suspected cases from her neighborhood, forcing her to reluctantly take me in.

As time passed, feelings developed, and we naturally ended up together.

But my nightmare was just beginning.

Vivienne had been divorced once due to her ex-husband's infidelity, so she had very strict requirements for me after our marriage.

I wasn't even allowed to like or comment on posts from female friends on social media. Once, I was scolded all night just for helping a female colleague with a group buy discount.

At first, I didn't pay much attention to it. I knew she had been hurt by her ex-husband and had become so vigilant.

Plus, I hadn't dated much before, and naively believed that men should always yield to women.

Later, she also complained that my parents couldn't take good care of our child, believing their education level was too low and they were too lenient.

So she asked me to quit my job and become a full-time dad.

When we got married, I had promised to fulfill all her requests, so I agreed.

It was also around this time that her junior from school, Kael, returned to the country. At that time, my wife boldly took me to have dinner with him.

At the table, they reminisced about their college days, how my wife used to take care of him, and how he had admired her.

Kael even said that if my wife wasn't already married, he would definitely pursue her during this trip back home.

Afterward, I seriously asked my wife if Kael's words were too much.

But she retorted, "Is he going too far, or are you being oversensitive? Is it necessary to make such a big deal out of a joke? We'll be seeing each other often from now on, so don't say such nonsensical things!"

"Seeing each other often? What do you mean?"

"I've decided to hire Kael at the company. You're leaving to take care of the kids, and we're short-staffed right now, so Kael's return is perfect timing. He can fill the gap left by your absence."

In the following period, my wife and her junior classmate frequently went out on dates.

She even forgot our wedding anniversary, only returning home the next morning.

I smelled alcohol on her and demanded to know where she'd been. Looking at the food on the table, she explained, "Kael's back in town, right? His girlfriend from abroad broke up with him, so I was comforting him. We just had a few drinks. What day was it yesterday? You prepared all this delicious food?""You forgot our wedding anniversary just to comfort him?"

The wife was momentarily taken aback, but then replied with relief, "Thank goodness I forgot about it. If Kael's heartbreak had coincided with our anniversary, he would've felt even more miserable."
