Things are different now.
She's openly hugging and cuddling with some random guy in public.
If I let her continue this reckless behavior, it's not just wasting all the years I've invested, it's also disrespecting my dignity and even my moral principles.
I couldn't take it anymore and said:
"Since this is so awkward for you, let's get a divorce."
To be honest, my marriage to Melody was just a chance occurrence.
A few years ago, she was selling face masks on social media. As her subordinate, I was ordered to deliver them to her home.
It happened to coincide with health officials coming to her neighborhood to take away some residents with yellow health codes.
So she was forced to take me in.
As time passed, we naturally fell for each other and got married.
But little did I know, this was just the beginning of my nightmare.
Melody had been married before, but it ended due to her husband's infidelity, so she was extremely harsh with me.
She wouldn't allow me to interact with any women. Even helping a female coworker get a discount on a group buying app could lead to her berating me all night.
At first, I didn't think much of it.
I just felt it was all her ex-husband's fault.
Besides, I thought romances were about pampering your girl. I didn't need to make a big deal out of it.
Gradually, she started finding fault with my parents too.She accused my parents of not taking good care of our child and letting the child develop bad habits. She even criticized my parents' character.
She said the reason for sending our child to an early education center was to prevent the grandparents from spoiling the child.
Finally, she demanded that I quit my job and stay at home as a house husband, so I could better accompany our child.
When we got married, I had promised to do whatever made her happy.
So I tried my best to satisfy her wishes.
But after I became a house husband, her former classmate returned to the country.
She specifically arranged for me to have a meal with him.
During the dinner, this classmate talked non-stop, repeatedly mentioning how Melody had taken such good care of him when he was in school, and how he could never forget her kindness.
He even boldly declared that if Melody wasn't already married, she would be the first person he'd pursue upon returning.
After it was over, I frowned at her for the first time.
I said, "He was clearly implying that he likes you. His intentions aren't pure."
She carelessly dismissed my concerns, retorting, "Aren't you overthinking this? He was just exaggerating a bit. You're a grown man, do you really need to be so petty?"
After scolding me, she didn't forget to warn me: "Anyway, we'll be seeing him often in the future. Don't you dare bring up any of this nonsense in front of him.""Frequently meet?" I asked, somewhat confused. "Why?"
"To work at my company, of course," Melody replied matter-of-factly. "You quit your job, right? It's perfect timing to have someone fill in for your position."
In the days that followed, I watched helplessly as Melody and her junior classmate grew increasingly close.
So much so that on our wedding anniversary, she got completely wasted and didn't come home all night.
I waited up for her the entire evening.
"Where did you go last night?"
