In a French restaurant, Sarah raised her knife and fork and gleefully began to slice and attack the delicious dish in front of her, with a look of mock fury on her face.
"Claire, you really surprised me! You tricked me so badly! Today, I'm going to eat the most expensive dishes!" Sarah exclaimed with a mischievous grin.
Claire, who had been puzzled, looked at her in confusion. "What do you mean I tricked you? Ever since you spread the rumor about me and the CEO living together and me secretly having a crush on him, you've been avoiding me! You've been going straight to work at Baoda Fu, not even daring to step into the office. We haven't even had a chance to meet, so how could I have tricked you?" Sarah certainly had a nerve. Claire hadn't even had the chance to get back at her yet!
"Oh, come on! You're still trying to deny it? The CEO is clearly your husband! You told me that the guy I thought was your 'dad's friend's son' was the CEO! And you said you had a crush on him? Well, you were clearly just playing me for a fool!" Sarah continued to chew happily, but her face was flushed with indignation. It was as though Claire owed her a few hundred thousand dollars and hadn't paid up yet.
"Back then, there were reasons I couldn't say anything," Claire explained, trying to defend herself.
"Yeah, well that's why I didn't know! I'm just glad I ran into Roy this morning, or I would've stayed completely in the dark. I didn't even dare go into the office, just in case—" Sarah paused suddenly, her eyes quickly avoiding Claire's, dropping to her food.
"Why did you stop? What are you afraid of?" Claire raised an eyebrow. At least Sarah had enough sense to be afraid now! This was the girl who had spread the gossip faster than anyone.
"Oh, well, it's not really my fault. I just couldn't stand hearing Shauna Mills go on and on about 'our CEO' all the time, so I couldn't help telling her you two were living together," Sarah explained with an exaggerated shrug.
"Do you realize that your 'slip-up' turned me into a laughingstock at work?" Claire's frustration was evident.
"Alright, alright, we're even now, okay?" Sarah quickly gave in, noticing Claire was about to snap.
"So, does that mean you're treating me to this meal?" Claire asked, her face still a little stern.
"What? No way! You really want me to pay for this?" Sarah blinked in shock. She'd ordered at least ten dishes, including appetizers and desserts! How could she possibly afford this? Probably the equivalent of half a month's salary! But then again, she did feel guilty for the awkward situation she had caused Claire recently, so... "Fine, fine, I'll pay for it. After this fancy meal, I'll just survive on instant noodles for the rest of the month!"
"Heh, I was just teasing you. I'll pay for it," Claire said, smirking. "The CEO gave me a card."
"Really? Looks like the CEO's really spoiling you," Sarah said with wide eyes, delighted at the news. She immediately dug into the meal with renewed vigor, as if she hadn't eaten in days.
"Well, he's been treating me really well lately. He even gave me half the day off so I could go shopping with you," Claire added.
"Shopping?" Sarah suddenly looked up in excitement, slurring slightly as she spoke, "Did the CEO really say that? I don't have to go to work this afternoon? Yay! Long live the CEO!" She raised her glass and then dove right back into her onion soup, finishing almost half of it in one gulp.
Claire stared at her in shock. "Sarah, the way you eat... you look like a refugee who just escaped from Africa and landed in China!" Was it the food that was so amazing, or was Sarah just eating like a beast?
"You don't understand. So, so good!" Sarah replied between mouthfuls, making it difficult for Claire to make sense of her words.

As soon as they left the restaurant, Sarah grabbed Claire's hand and eagerly hailed a taxi. They both got in, with Sarah riding in front and Claire following her inside.
"Why are we going to XX Street? Is there something fun there?" Claire asked, still a little confused. She rarely went out for fun, especially after marrying Lucas, so she didn't really know much about interesting places.
"Oh, it's not just fun—it's super fun! By the way, have you heard about that legendary figure who's been making waves recently? His makeup skills and styling are truly out of this world!" Sarah's eyes sparkled with excitement. Anyone who didn't know her would think she had discovered some kind of rare treasure.
"A legendary figure?" Claire thought for a moment. She felt like she might have heard something about this. Wait—was Sarah talking about Master Blaine?
"I knew you wouldn't have heard of him! What kind of CEO's wife doesn't know about the latest trends? Let me tell you, today is the last day of the legendary figure's public interview. I was planning to come alone yesterday, but I chickened out. Since you're with me today, I'm not afraid anymore!" Sarah added confidently.
"Wait, what interview?" Claire interrupted, her curiosity piqued.
"Well, this person is hiring an assistant. But here's the catch: the applicants must be barefaced and wear an extremely short skirt while standing in front of a display window for ten minutes, facing the pedestrians outside," Sarah said, practically glowing with excitement.
"I think you should just give up. If you want me to take off my makeup, it would be like asking me to run into a wall!" Claire couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it. Sarah, after all, was known for her strange habit of never leaving the house without makeup, let alone standing barefaced in front of a window for ten minutes.
"But I have you!" Sarah suddenly said, completely out of the blue.
"What do you mean?" Claire frowned.
"I didn't say I wanted to apply to be his assistant," Sarah clarified.
"Then what, are you just going to watch the spectacle?" Claire looked at her incredulously. It didn't make sense to go across town just to watch something.
"I just want to see this legendary person for myself. They say he's so good-looking it's scary. I want to see if it's true, if he's really that handsome—or if he'll just scare me to death," Sarah admitted with a grin.
"And what does that have to do with me? You're just going to look at a guy. Why are you so shy?" Claire couldn't understand.
Sarah shot her a look. "I told you, the guy has a weird quirk. He only meets people who come for the interview. If you're not applying, he won't see you. That's why I want to go see him." Her voice lowered with excitement as she explained the mystery surrounding him.
"So, because I never wear makeup, you think I should go to this interview? So you have an excuse to get close to this guy?" Claire raised an eyebrow, suspecting Sarah had ulterior motives.
Sarah nodded eagerly, giving her an "OK" gesture. "Don't worry about it. When we get there, you'll know for sure this trip will be worth it."
