He was standing in the middle of the training hall, wearing shabby armour and holding a black sword provided by his mother for the duel.
When Alex told her about the situation, she was frightened; she even tried to head to the royal hall, telling Alex that she would divorce the king, and that way, Alex would not have to accept the duel or any conditions.
But after some efforts, giving her his words and showing a battle with Lars, she calmed down for a bit; however, the worry of a mother for her child has no bounds.
The training hall was completely different today; there were seats for the royal hall members and count of popular houses. Royal carriages arrived; in the first ten carriages, there were battalions of knights, and in the last ten, there were warlords. In the middle of all carriages, a huge, magnificent carriage with the king and first queen arrived. All the maids of the house were on their knees, forming two rows at the main door of the mansion, and the head maid opened the door of the king's carriage.
First, the queen came out from the door; Alex's mother, standing in the middle of the two rows, kissed the first queen's hand - a formal act of the royal family to show gratitude.
The first queen appeared to be a beautiful woman but arrogant at the same time; she didn't greet Alex's mother and didn't appreciate the gesture. She was wearing a golden dress to show off her royalty.
Alex didn't like her attitude; despite that, he couldn't do anything. If it were past him, he would have killed her at the time she showed arrogance to his mother, but in this world, he knew the ways of Murim would not work.
So, he held his anger, but there was a question in his mind about why he felt angry. He accepted her as his mother for showing gratitude to the kid, for giving his body to him, but still, she was not the mother who gave birth to him; although he thought that it was just the will of that body.
His gaze again fell on the carriage; the first queen headed to her seat, a maid showed her the way. The king came out from the carriage; he was wearing armor similar to a knight, but his presence made that armor seem divine. The king was built differently; he was huge and tall at the same time. His golden hair made him handsome; his face had two scars, one under the eye and one on the forehead, but still, he looked divine. His features - nose, eyes - were perfect; although Alex didn't care much about the appearance of the king.
In Alex's eyes, he was a foolish being who couldn't protect his child, and he gazed at him from the middle of the ground with hatred.
Alex's mother tried to show him the way, but he completely ignored her and headed alone to his seat. And that way, one by one, everyone headed to their seats. In the end, the fatso Prime Minister came down with a person - a middle-aged man wearing a black dress. With his appearance, anyone could tell he was an assassin knight; his presence and aura were similar to the Prime Minister, who was a ten-star knight.
Alex didn't care that he was a 10-star or 2-star knight because he knew he could defeat him; he was sure. Alex was already standing in the middle of the training hall. General Viscal approached him; he wanted to tell him something. "The second prince, please, there is still time in the duel; accept defeat, or you will die today.
I don't want to see the blood of a member of the royal family spilling in my presence. If you forfeit now, then I will ask the king to dismiss all the conditions."
Fang Cheon, who was Alex now, made eye contact with General Viscal. What General Viscal saw were eyes of anger and remorse. General Viscal was shocked, standing there as if he saw a ghost; he didn't say anything anymore and headed to his seat.
Prime Minister Orcas used magic to communicate with everyone; magic made his voice loud. He started giving a speech. "Everyone, as you already know why we are here, the second prince unlocked his talent, and the report says that he is a prodigy who can surpass the King himself.
So today, we will witness a new birth of a hero." Alex knew it was not a speech; it was just mockery. He was making fun of him. He grinds his teeth in anger; at the same time, he sees his mother standing in the audience, her eyes full of hope. His heart calms, and he gives a smile to her.
A knight comes in the middle and, in front of Alex, his opponent, seeing him as if he is a predator who will hunt a rabbit. The knight explains the rules of the duel. "The first rule says
...The first rule says that you can use any technique. The second rule he told loudly is that no one can use petty tricks.
The third rule was simply to kill each other, and that's it. After explaining, he loudly said, "To the goddess Uxil, I am counting another duel.
One, two, three…."
The King was sitting in the middle, his seat large and different from the other audience members. He watched the referee knight counting; on his left side, General Viscal's seat, and to the left side, the first queen. General Viscal whispered, "My Majesty, please stop the duel. You already know it is not the battle the second prince can win." The king winked at General Viscal, "Don't worry, he will win."
The second queen, mother of Alex, had already decided in her mind that she would interrupt if she saw her son's life in danger. But the first queen was very happy; she couldn't express her happiness to anyone because she was the one who was behind everything.
The assassin turned his sword towards Alex. "You were not even worthy of knowing my name.
I don't understand why this fat old man appointed me to kill you, but still, I will tell you my name. I am Rucas.
Sorry, kid, you will die today by my hand." And like that, he disappeared from the place he was standing, or could say that he flew towards Alex with the force and speed that normal humans can't even see.
However, Alex's figure disappeared, causing Rucas's slash to pierce through the air. "How…?"
Immediately, he sensed the presence of Alex behind him. He couldn't move. As if forgetting everything, Rucas concentrated towards his back.
But the presence of Alex disappeared again in the next second; he was in front of him.
In the crowd, everyone was shocked; even the king couldn't hide his emotions anymore. But most of the knights who were lower than 10 stars didn't know what happened. Rucas felt humiliated; his face was burning red with humiliation. "How could...?" He again charged a pack of attacks with his sword towards Alex, but all attacks couldn't touch a single hair of him.
Alex laughed menacingly. "That's the power of a 10-star knight, haha, what a joke." There was silence in the audience, seeing a 12-year-old child laughing like a demon.
"As if you defeated me, kid, I will show you how powerful a 10-star knight is."
Rucas chanted some spells, but he couldn't show his assassination techniques because Assassin knights were a special force created for killing royalties of foe kingdom they were forbidden to be part of duels, he knew if he did, he would die that moment.
His sword shining, he was all around covered with burning flames; his sword was blue, indicating the high temperature.
"He is using aura now; the child will know his place," some knights in the audience whispered to each other. Some whispered that the condition for a duel was a 2-star knight, but to be able to use aura, a knight should be 6-star.
Rucas slashed towards Alex, chanting something. "The mother of Flames, Phoenix, give me the power to kill my enemy."
The ground was in half where Alex stood before. Alex did the same thing he did at the start of the duel.
He realized that Alex was now standing behind him, as if nothing happened.
Rucas pushed down his shaken heart and slowly turned around.
He yelled in frustration, "It seems I had underestimated you a bit. Now I will show you what an assassin capable of." All the royal guards heard the word "assassin"; some were confused, some didn't interfere because of the Prime Minister. Only General Viscal stood from his seat.
This time, Rucas, sure of his victory, did not hold back; he threw some explosives towards Alex. He used stealth and was holding a blade; the aura of the blade was purple. He abandoned his presence and appeared behind Alex.
Alex acted like he was afraid of his attack. Rucas smiled, sure of victory, and slashed at the back of Alex with his blade.
The blade broke…crack. He was on his knees; the next thing his eyes saw was his hand broken completely. He loudly screamed in pain; he felt as if his hand hit a boulder. Rucas still tried to stand his ground but couldn't; it was the aftershock that did not let him.
Surprise, Mr. Assassin.
Alex smiled and started beating Rucas with punches; his fist was shaking the ground. Rucas's head split in half; his body parts were spilled on the ground. On top of his half-corpse, Alex sat smiling, like nothing happened
