Should I contact law enforcement? Report an assault? File for unlawful detainment?

My flight to New Zealand was scheduled for tomorrow, and Air New Zealand was expecting my arrival. I couldn't risk any delays at this point.

Despite the anger bubbling within me, I swallowed my pride and made a choice. I lowered myself to the ground.

Fighting back tears of rage, I muttered through gritted teeth, "Emily, I apologize. The fault lies entirely with me. Please forgive my actions."

Emily's grin was saccharine, almost unsettlingly so. "Maxwell, you know the saying—'forgiveness is a virtue.' Allow Grace to stand. I pardon her."

Maxwell took her hand and departed without a backward glance.

I remained there, on my knees on the chilly earth, crumpled before my sister's tombstone. Silent droplets fell, a quiet release of pent-up emotions.

The following day, I embarked on my journey to New Zealand, my spirit heavy but resolute.
