if we reach 669 Powerstones before Sunday's reset(approximately 32 hours after this chapter is released), then another bonus chapter will be on Monday.
Whether this fic will continue or not would depend on the support I am getting which is decided by the number of Powerstones this fic receives or the number of Patreon members)
"Still, you really are beaten up," Mimosa said while looking at Leopold battered up.
She started to heal him with plant magic. Since it was without a grimoire, its effectiveness wasn't really that high, and only a few plants sprouted, but the green glow in her hands started closing the wounds.
Before Leopold could say something, Akeru beat him to it.
"I am always curious, but do you need medical knowledge to heal people?"
"Actually, it depends on the extent of the injury. Currently, my knowledge is not as vast as a certified healer, so I can only take care of bleeding wounds, which are also small."
"Also, it might look like I am just putting a green glow on his wounds, but this process is also a bit complicated. I have to first sense inside his body for any sign of foreign particles entering, like dust or things like that, and how the blood has flowed. Then, I extract those particles and close up the wound."
Her words surprised Akeru.
"What about wounds like, you know, broken bones or stuff like a hole in major organs like the stomach or liver?" he asked as a follow-up.
He had actually thought it to be relatively straightforward, like a spell doing all that. But it made sense that since she was doing it without a grimoire, the entire process had to be manual.
"That would require not only good control over your magic but also a large amount of mana, and the process would be very long. Generally, multiple mages take on that job," Mimosa said after she was done with Leopold.
"Do you have any injuries?"
"Hmm, not really. My body didn't really come into contact with the spell directly, and the blunt force caused by those attacks wasn't high enough to cause internal damage," Akeru said after stopping momentarily before continuing eating.
"Woah, what was that spell? You are unharmed even after getting attacked continuously, and I know that those mist projectiles damn hurt," Leopold said.
"Well, it's basically an advanced form of mana skin, I guess. I created it last year when I wanted to have a good defensive spell. It basically condenses and shapes the mana into a kind of barrier, which is hard to penetrate."
"What's mana skin?" Leopold asked with a question mark on his face.
Mimosa explained to him what it is.
"Woah, hosh! I'm gonna learn mana skin next," he declared.
"Good luck."
"Don't challenge me to a spar before you learn that," Akeru playfully warned.
Fortunately for him, Leopold agreed.
Now, he would have fewer distractions than usual.
'I wonder how long it would take him to learn mana skin. In the canon, I think it was done in one training session only, but that was a future version of him who had trained in various aspects beforehand,' Akeru wondered.
"Right, I forgot to mention," Mimosa suddenly said and looked at Leopold.
"Some people are going to the Heart Kingdom as a kind of exchange program next month. I am going along with my brother. There is one seat available. Do you want to come?"
Akeru internally had a question mark.
'Did this even happen in canon, or is this due to a butterfly effect?' Akeru suddenly thought about all the information he remembered about the Heart Kingdom.
His eyes internally widened.
'Oh, so it's that event. It was mentioned in canon that Mimosa had gone before to the Heart Kingdom, and that's how Black Bulls got entry into that kingdom.'
"Oh, I have heard about it from my brother. After thinking it through, I decided not to go. Plus, my brother is going to train me at a special location during that time," Leopold said.
"Oh, that's a shame. I guess I'll have to spend time with my brother," Mimosa sighed.
"It's okay," Leopold said, patting her shoulder with a sympathetic look.
'I guess I need to use that favor to get that spot. Getting hands-on experience with the special magic of the Heart Kingdom would be invaluable. I hope that favor will work in this scenario,' Akeru mentally prepared his sentence for how he was going to ask.
But before he could say anything, "What about you, Akeru? Are you interested in going?" Mimosa suddenly asked.
"..."
Akeru was taken aback by the situation, but he wouldn't let the opportunity slip away.
"Is that really fine?"
"Yeah, it's for anybody in House Vermillion. You are also technically part of it, so you are eligible," Mimosa said with a smile.
Akeru felt like an angel was looking at him.
'Is this what they mean by getting everything on a golden platter or something along those lines?'
"Yeah, I'm in. I was always interested in the magic methods of the Heart Kingdom. Due to their secretive nature, it's hard to get information on them," Akeru immediately said.
"I will send you the exact date and time later. I guess I won't be completely annoyed by my brother," she said cheerfully.
The party mostly proceeded normally without any other interruptions, and Akeru reached his room in one piece.
'Heart Kingdom, huh? I need to learn about runes and arrays as much as possible in the next month,' Akeru thought while going to his slumber... on the floor, as it was pretty hard for him to sleep on a bed anymore.
The days passed with Akeru holed up in the library completely for the next month.
The date quickly approached.
A/n - Okay, I need to mention some things about grimoire-less magic and combat prowess before people start complaining:
Information Brain Dump INCOMING:
You already know this, but a grimoire helps a mage use more complex spells than their already known ones.
However, it's not really impossible for a person to learn complex spells without a grimoire. It would just require more time.
We have seen many instances of grimoire-less magic in canon. Here are some:
In the initial episodes, Yuno uses wind magic to dry clothes or something, even before the grimoire ceremony where they are given grimoires.
Gaja mentioned that when Mimosa had previously come to the Heart Kingdom when compared to their second meeting, she had grown with offensive spells. What does that mean? It means she didn't know offensive spells but clearly knew healing spells.
What was the age of Mimosa at that time?
13 Years!
Now, some people would still have complaints about defeating a magic knight without a grimoire.
Well, here it is:
It's mentioned in canon that even before Mereoleona got a grimoire, she could beat average magic knights with relative ease. There's a reason why it's said that royals could grow without training.
Kirsch is the best example. He hadn't even trained in his life, as mentioned by him in the Royal Magic Knights arc, and yet he became Vice-Captain level or Stage 1 (It's mentioned in canon by Nero that Stage 1 refers to 1st class Senior Magic Knight) in less than a freaking year!
In the Royal Magic Knight Arc, during Langris vs. Finral, it was shown that even before the former brought out his grimoire, he could defeat many magic knights.
Here's your text corrected for grammatical errors while retaining the original word count and structure:
I think that is enough points to justify that my choices are not that far away from canon.
Here is an estimate of the power levels of combatants in the battle:
Kirsch Vermillion: "Obviously, I am first. My beauty even charms the readers" - Stage 1.
Now, some may argue that he probably got that position due to the leader of Coral Peacocks being sleepy all the time, and there might be some truth in that. But currently, Kirsch is around 18 years old, and for more than 2 years, he has been Vice-Captain, so I believe that he is at that level as his prowess would naturally increase with time.
Solid: It has been only a year since he got his grimoire. I would say that he is around the fifth class of Intermediate Magic Knights. (Magic Knight levels are divided into 5 classes each.)
Nebra: Upper classes of Intermediate-level Magic Knights, around the first or second class.
Leopold: Somewhere around third class or fourth class of Junior-level Magic Knights. He was able to hold on due to using more mana, but in a prolonged battle, he would have lost. (He is naturally stronger than his cannon counterpart due to Akeru's existence)
Akeru: Between Nebra and Solid xD.
