I was momentarily dumbfounded, not from physical pain but from the sheer audacity of Zayn's statement.

Before I could muster a reply, Melinda, who had been silently following behind him, abruptly let out a gasp and clasped her hand over her mouth, feigning astonishment.

"Oh dear! Xandra, I'm terribly sorry," she cried out with exaggerated emotion, her voice quivering. "I had no idea Zayn injured your leg because of me! I feel absolutely awful…"

Her performance made me feel sick. I shot her a contemptuous look, my voice dripping with sarcasm, "You weren't aware? How could that be possible, considering he broadcast the entire incident live for your viewing pleasure?"

For a brief instant, Melinda's facade cracked, a hint of discomfort flashing across her features. Nevertheless, she swiftly regained composure, presenting a container of seaweed and pork bone soup as if it were some grand gesture of reconciliation.
