Chapter 42

After leaving the restaurant, I suddenly felt incredibly light.

All those burdens that had weighed on my heart dissipated one by one.

I took a detour to the flower shop where Lucas had bought an orchid for Mom.

The shop owner recognized me.

But the flower shop was almost empty.

She was loading the vacant flower pots onto a truck.

I asked, "Where are you moving to?"

She smiled, "Not moving! Just want to try something else."

I was stunned for a moment.

"That's nice too."

She made me a bouquet with the remaining lily of the valley, hyacinth, and olive branches in the shop.

"Here's to embracing new lives for both of us."

We exchanged a hug.

Parting with reluctance.

On the way home.

The sunset painted the sky with golden hues, like a sea of colorful clouds.

I stopped to admire it for a while.

Suddenly, I received a call from the station manager.

His tone was a bit anxious.

"Ivor, your vacation might need to end early."

"What happened?"

He sent me a news article.
