So far Ian, Dorrien and Kael were fighting Ragers in their fifties without breaking a sweat. But the fight seemed unending. It felt like the were being multiplied faster than the were put down.
Where are all this ragers coming from...
As it turned out , the completely bald headed Ragers were stronger and faster. Their thick scales added to their defence and some even displayed some levels of intelligence using the lesser ones as pawns to get a full swing.
Ian, Dorrien and Kael were fighting well as a team.
Though most of Roshans training focused on harnessing individual skills and strength, they were also taught how fight as a unit for cases such as now.
Roshan sat upon a pile of dead bodies though none of them was human. Zimri was holding unto the last one whose limb had been torn off. It looked frightened and shook slightly but it was no wonder judging by how fast the others had been torn apart.
"Lets make this quick, shall we?, Roshan said coming over.
"Tell me what i need to know, so i can get on my merry way".
"And don't even think about lying,", he added his eyes flashing red for half a second.
"Where did you come from? Zimri asked.
"Lab",it replied stammering adding emphasis on the 'b'.
"Who do you work for ?, Zimri asked again taking the role of the interrogator.
"Lab " it replied again clearly annoying Roshan.
Roshan stood up to knock some sense into it but before he could reach it, trickles of saliva ran down its mouth and it collapsed on the ground. On inspection, it was dead.
"I wonder what and where that lab is", Zimri said sighing.
"Most importantly, who runs it? Roshan replied.
So many thoughts filled Roshans head.
This could not be a coincidence....
"Change of plans Zimri", Roshan said.
"We head out tomorrow".
Meanwhile, Ian Dorrien and Kael were rounding up their battle; bashing the heads of the remaining few ragers. The three were so focused on the action before them, only stopping after there were few ragers left.
A sudden noise caught their attention as they all turned to its source. They looked at each other with a tactic understanding.
"I'll go check it out." Dorrien said, his eyes still trained on the part of the forest where the noise had come from.
"I'll come with you." Kael said also causing Dorrien to look at him with furrowed brows.
He intended to rebuke Kael but was cut off by Ian who....
"You guys go together, I can handle the rest by myself." He said looking at the ragers that were struggling to get up on their feet.
"You sure?" Dorrien asked with slight worry showing on his face but he immediately covered it up.
With the affirmation, the two took off towards the sound. With a sigh, Ian turned to see quite a number of the fallen ragers back on their feet and to add it up, they were multiplying.
This was going to be tough.
With the sudden charge of the rangers, Ian also ran towards them, hitting as many as possible and slicing down as much as he could. Their numbers kept multiplying and it felt like an unending battle.
Ian, so focused didn't notice the rager that had mananged to creep up on him. Its long outstretched claws were up and ready to land the unexpecting blows. Ragers consisted of different varieties, the bald and scaly ones with much resistance and the ones formed by the means of fission.
Unfortunately,
A strike was landed up the back, the surprise attack had the air in a freeze as it seemed no one moved for a second. Ian stood, mouth almost hanging as he looked behind him.
Having been focused on the ragers before him, he had noticed the one behind a second too late but the surprise of not getting hit was not as great as that of seeing who had stuck a dagger into the chest of the rager.
Concern, the anger flashed across his eyes as he stared directly at the hazel eyes which looked at him as it rashly withdrew the blade from the rager, making it fall limp to the ground. Not wasting any time, Ian stepped on the neck of the rager, separating it from the body.
"How did you get here?" Ian asked, his tone as cold as the chilling river he had swam through earlier as he looked sharply at Nyx.
"I'm not weak, stop treating me like a princess." Nyx respond back, her eyes also burning with rage.
"But you are a princess and it's my duty to protect you." Ian answered, his tone raising up a little pitch.
His shout had Nyx looking down at the ground.
"I'm sorry." He apologised when he realised how rude he had acted.
"Why did you leave the shed?" He asked calmly, his gaze not still leaving her.
"I was attacked by one of those things. What are they anyway?" She asked frustrated while not even letting Ian process the fact that she was attacked.
He had assumed that place was safe, as it was surrounded by water and....
"You mean you were...."
"Watch out!!"
