Inner Thoughts

Hailey let out a little breath. "Haa. Yeah, duh. Comparing you to size and stuff…" She spoke slow, then stopped, like she didn't know what to say next.

Her fingers played with bedsheets, twisting it tight. Her eyes darted away, shy and unsure. The room felt thick, full of things they weren't saying, like a heavy cloud hanging over them.

"…" Nobody said a word. Hailey's mouth opened a bit, but nothing came out. Her face got pink, and she looked down fast. The silence was loud, pressing on them like it wanted to squish the moment flat.

"Hm?" He tilted his head, staring at her. His voice was soft, just a tiny sound of wondering. His eyes squinted, trying to figure her out, like he was peeking into her brain.
