chapter6:close

she chased after that man desperately, shouting as she ran, "Stop! You murderer!" In the panic, a business card on Amy dropped to the ground. There was a student in the crowd. Curiously, he picked up the card and shouted towards Amy's back, "Hey, beauty, your card!" But at this moment, Amy was full of hatred for that man and didn't hear his shout at all. The student shook his head helplessly and said to himself while looking at the card in his hand, "What should I do? There might be very important contact information on it." After thinking for a while, in order not to forget the beauty's contact information, he first put the card in his trouser pocket, then took out his mobile phone and quietly wrote the number on Amy's card in the corner of his dormitory bed. While writing, he secretly rejoiced, "Fortunately, I sleep in the upper bunk. In this way, it is not easy to be discovered by others. I'll return it to her when I see her next time."

The student shook his head helplessly again, his eyes fixed on the card in his hand, and he couldn't help muttering to himself, "What can I do? There may well be very important contact information on this card." He thought for a moment and thought to himself, "If I just throw away the card like this, what if the girl is in a hurry to find the contact information on it? That would be troublesome." So, he carefully put the card in his trouser pocket first. Then, he took out his mobile phone from his pocket, his eyes moving back and forth between the number on the card and the mobile phone screen. Quietly, he thought that he would write the number on Amy's card in the corner of his dormitory bed as soon as he returned to the dormitory. While thinking, he secretly rejoiced, "Fortunately, I sleep in the upper bunk. In this way, it is not easy to be discovered by others. When I see this beauty next time, I will return the card to her."

...

Amy was out of breath as she chased after the man wearing a face mask all the way into an alley. However, the alley was empty. The man had vanished as if he had never been there. Amy was both angry and anxious. Gritting her teeth, she said resentfully, "Damn it! He got away!"

Just as Amy was feeling frustrated, she heard some noise. She quickly looked in the direction of the sound and saw several fierce - looking thugs surrounding a girl. The girl was full of horror, hugging her bag tightly with both hands and shouting in a trembling voice, "Stay away from me! Help!" Amy took a closer look and was astonished to find that it was her colleague Cindy.

Instantly, the memory of the last time flashed through Amy's mind. Last time, because of her indifference, Cindy had been killed indirectly. This time, without any hesitation, she rushed forward and shouted at the thugs, "What are you doing? Let her go!"

The thugs were startled by Amy's sudden appearance. One of them said menacingly, "Mind your own business, or we'll beat you up too!" Amy showed no fear at all. Firmly, she said, "It's not too late for you to stop now. Otherwise, when the police arrive, you won't be able to run away!"

Just then, the sound of police sirens came from the distance. The thugs immediately panicked. They looked at each other and then scattered and ran away.

Cindy was still in shock. Looking at Amy, her eyes were full of gratitude. With a somewhat choked voice, she said, "Amy, thank you so much. If it weren't for you today, I don't know what terrible things would have happened to me. I thought I was doomed today."

Amy smiled and said, "Cindy, you're welcome. We are colleagues, and we should help each other. Are you hurt?" Cindy shook her head and said, "No. Thanks to your timely arrival. Although we don't communicate much usually, I'm really grateful that you were so brave to save me today. We were just chance acquaintances, but you were so chivalrous. I don't even know how to repay you."

Amy gently patted Cindy's shoulder and said, "No need to repay. As long as you're okay. Actually, last time when I saw you in danger and didn't offer help, I've always felt guilty. This time, I don't want to be an indifferent person anymore."

Cindy asked with some confusion, "Last time? Amy, what are you talking about?" Amy realized that she had made a slip of the tongue and quickly explained, "Nothing, Cindy. Anyway, we should be more careful in the future. This area is not very safe."

Cindy nodded and said, "Yes, you're right. Let's leave here together." So Amy and Cindy walked out of the alley together.

Just as they walked out of the alley, Cindy, with a flushed face, went to hug a young man in front of her. This young man was exactly the college student who had picked up Amy's card just now.

Amy realized that she had made a slip of the tongue and quickly explained, "It's nothing, Cindy. Anyway, this neighborhood is not very safe. We should all be more careful in the future." Cindy nodded and replied, "Yes, you're right. Let's leave here together." So Amy and Cindy walked out of the alley together.

As soon as they walked out of the alley, Cindy's face suddenly turned red. She happily ran towards a young man in front of her and hugged him at once. Amy was a little surprised. Looking closely, she found that this young man was the college student who had picked up her card just now.

Seeing Cindy, the young man said with a smile, "Sis, why are you here? I was just looking for you."

Cindy said in a coquettish tone, "Don't even mention it. I was almost in danger just now. Fortunately, Amy saved me."

Only then did the young man notice Amy. He said to Amy gratefully, "So it was you who saved my sister. Thank you so much. My sister is a bit scatter - brained and is always careless."

Amy waved her hand and said with a smile, "It's nothing. I just happened to be there. You two have such a great relationship as siblings."

The young man scratched his head and said a little shyly, "My sister and I have been taking care of each other since we were young, and we've always had a very good relationship."

Looking at them, Amy couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort. She had been an orphan since childhood and was all alone in this world. At this moment, seeing such a happy family scene, her heart was full of warmth. She said sincerely, "It's so nice to see you two like this."

Cindy asked with some confusion, "Amy, what's wrong with you? Why are you so emotional all of a sudden?"

Amy sighed gently and said, "Nothing. It's just that seeing you two makes me feel very warm."

The young man and Cindy exchanged a glance. Although they didn't quite understand Amy's words, they could still sense the sincerity in her words.
