chapter32:Amy's New Start and Mysteries

In a far - off place, at that time, the sun was shining brightly, and its resplendent rays were pouring onto the earth without reservation.

After waking up, Amy languidly stretched out a long, long yawn, as if that yawn could sweep away all the fatigue in her body.

Subsequently, she reached for her mobile phone and opened it to check.

After seeing the information on the phone screen clearly, she couldn't help but let out a soft sigh, with her eyes full of helplessness. After all, it was already the third day since she had returned to a year ago.

Up until now, she was still striving to recall the events before her return. What still emerged in her mind was the scene when her best friend Lucy invited her to an event. At that time, she had agreed wholeheartedly. Who could have thought that after just one sleep, she would find herself back a year ago?

Amy lay quietly on the sofa, staring unblinkingly at the ceiling. In her mind, it seemed as if there was a sophisticated instrument replaying the major events that would occur during this year and the people she might meet.

She murmured softly to herself, "What on earth happened during this year? Why is my memory so hazy? Lucy, Tom, can I successfully change their fates of death this time?"

Just then, the doorbell rang without any warning.

Amy slowly got up, walked to the door, and saw through the peephole that it was her neighbor Jack.

She opened the door, and Jack said with a big smile, "Amy, this is a parcel for you."

There was a bit of confusion in Amy's eyes. She reached out to take the parcel and said, "Thank you, Jack. What's inside?"

Jack shrugged his shoulders and replied with a curious smile on his face, "I don't know either. The courier left it with me and asked me to pass it on to you. I'm also very curious about what's inside."

Amy smiled and said, "Okay, anyway, thank you very much for bringing it over specially."

After seeing Jack off, Amy returned to the sofa and opened the parcel.

There lay two letters quietly inside. Opening them, she found out that they were two job offers. One was the much - coveted United Nations news editor job, and the other was the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) detective assistant position.

Holding these two offers, Amy was plunged into deep contemplation. She couldn't help but think of her current complicated situation and that mysterious matter related to Tom.

She thought to herself, "If I become an FBI detective assistant, perhaps I will have the opportunity to save Tom's life and also make up for my regrets before the dislocation."

Thus, Amy resolutely decided to join the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and replied to their offer.

They were very glad that she could join and arranged for her to start work next Monday.

That afternoon, Amy invited her best friend Lucy to have hot pot together to celebrate her new job.

They came to a hot pot restaurant. As soon as they entered the store, the rich aroma of the hot pot wafted over, and that aroma was like an invisible magic, instantly whetting one's appetite.

Amy said to Lucy with a smile, "Lucy, let's have the coconut - chicken hot pot today. The taste of this pot is very special."

Lucy's eyes lit up, and she said excitedly, "Great, it sounds delicious."

Soon, the coconut - chicken hot pot was served. The white coconut - milk soup base in the pot was boiling merrily, as if playing a delicious symphony. The chicken pieces were faintly visible in it, as if playing hide - and - seek with people, and at the same time, it emitted a faint aroma of coconut and the fresh smell of chicken. The intertwined fragrances were mouth - watering.

The side dishes were also very rich. The tender mushrooms were like lovely little umbrellas, the green vegetables were full of vitality, and the slippery enoki mushrooms were like white silk threads, spread abundantly around the pot, like a colorful food - filled picture.

Amy and Lucy were happily eating hot pot when suddenly they heard a commotion outside the store.

They looked at each other and then hurriedly walked out of the store to check.

They saw a strange woman being robbed.

Without hesitation, Lucy rushed forward and shouted loudly, "What are you doing? No robbing!"

Those robbers showed a hint of panic on their faces when they saw someone meddling, but they still said viciously, "Mind your own business, or we'll beat you up too!"

Lucy was not afraid at all and replied with firm eyes, "What you are doing is wrong. I won't let you succeed!"

Thanks to Lucy's brave interception, those robbers finally ran away in disgrace.

The strange woman said gratefully to Lucy, "Thank you. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't know what to do."

Lucy smiled and said, "You're welcome. It's what I should do."

Amy was watching from the side. Suddenly, she felt that the strange woman's voice was very familiar. She frowned and wondered to herself, "This voice, where have I heard it before?"

After the strange woman said goodbye to Lucy, Lucy asked Amy curiously, "Amy, I always thought you would go to the United Nations job that you've been longing for. Why did you choose the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)?"

Instead of answering directly, Amy asked in return, "Lucy, do you remember the detective - novel - club villa trip we had?"

Lucy shook her head blankly and said, "Detective - club trip? I don't remember such a thing."

While saying this, Lucy took out her mobile phone, found a link, and handed it to Amy, asking, "Amy, is it this detective - novel gathering? It looks very interesting."

Amy looked at it and nodded, "Yes, it's this one."

Lucy said with a pity - filled face, "It's a pity it has expired. Otherwise, I really wanted to invite you to go together."

Amy couldn't help but think, how come the time was misaligned after her return, and the gathering time had also changed? Then, would the things Tom had experienced on his side also be changed? How could she get in touch with Tom again? She remembered that the radio was placed in her United Nations - arranged apartment. If she changed her job, could she still contact Tom?

In a corner of the hot pot restaurant, Jack was secretly watching Amy. His eyes were full of complex emotions, including worry, guilt, and a touch of indescribable deep affection.

Kelly seemed to sense Jack's gaze. She frowned and wanted to turn around and leave.

Jack quickly stepped forward and said in a low voice, "Kelly, I know you've been brooding over Tom's matter, but Amy is innocent. Don't hurt her."

Kelly stopped in her tracks and looked coldly at Jack, saying, "Brother, do you think I'm the kind of person who would hurt others without distinguishing right from wrong? There are some things about her that might be able to solve the mystery in my heart. Moreover, those robbers just now were not sent by me. I saw them trying to lay hands on Amy, so I helped."

Jack looked at Kelly with a puzzled face and asked, "What mystery are you talking about? Why do you think Amy has something that can solve the mystery?"

Kelly looked around to make sure no one was paying attention to them before slowly saying, "Brother, you also know that since our second brother had an accident, I've been investigating the truth behind it. I think Amy might be the key to solving all the mysteries."

Jack frowned and said, "Kelly, this matter is too dangerous. If you investigate privately like this, you might get yourself involved. Moreover, I don't want to see anyone else get hurt because of this matter. Have you forgotten about father Steve's disappearance? I don't want you to be taken away by those people either. Your decision to join USM is too dangerous."
