Enchanting Cult Leader 12

After Gu Han left, Elora could no longer hold on and collapsed to the ground...

"Miss..." Elora vaguely heard a girl's voice calling her name. "Miss, drink the medicine. It will make you feel better." Then, she felt a liquid being placed at her lips. It was unbearably bitter! Elora recoiled at the sharp, astringent taste, stubbornly refusing to open her mouth.

"Miss, bitter medicine is the best remedy. Only by drinking it will your illness be cured!" The maid, Yuhe, gently urged Elora, hoping she wouldn't spit it out again. But no matter how many times she tried, Elora would not take the medicine, rejecting it forcefully each time.

...

"Young Master, how can you argue with a patient? Even if she says things that are hard to hear, you cannot raise your sword against her. Don't you know she's been poisoned? Her body is already weak. Now, if she forces herself to use her internal energy to fight you, she'll be in even worse condition!" Zheng Lin stormed into the room, his voice laced with frustration.

"..."

Gu Han remained silent, his head still lowered as he scribbled on his paper, ignoring Zheng Lin.

Zheng Lin grew even angrier. What was going on? He had just returned from gathering herbs and was met with the frantic news from Yuhe that Miss had fainted. The only person who could be referred to as "Miss" by the Eternal Night Order was the woman Gu Han had brought back. Alarmed, he rushed to check, fearing for her safety. When he took her pulse, he was shocked to find it erratic and weak. Could this girl really be so reckless as to use her internal energy while poisoned? After inquiring with Yuhe, he learned that she had had a fierce argument with Gu Han that afternoon. Though she was too far away for Yuhe to hear clearly, it seemed to have been intense.

Zheng Lin's anger flared. Even Gu Han was not exempt from criticism. While he was desperately trying to save the patient, Gu Han was, in effect, making matters worse. Now, Zheng Lin would have to spend twice the time treating the girl.

"Doctor Zheng... Doctor Zheng..." As Zheng Lin turned, Yuhe rushed in, her face pale with anxiety. She quickly bowed before him and, with urgency in her voice, asked, "Doctor Zheng, Miss's condition is worsening, and I can no longer feel her breath. What should we do?"

Upon hearing this, Gu Han paused for a moment, a drop of ink falling on the paper he had just finished writing. His calm demeanor faltered, and he was clearly shaken.

"I'll go take a look," Zheng Lin said, not even sparing Gu Han a glance, as he hurried toward Elora's room. Life and death were at stake; now was no time for formalities.

"Greetings, Young Master." As Zheng Lin left, a man in black knelt before Gu Han. He received a letter from Gu Han. "Go investigate."

"Yes." The man in black took the letter and vanished in an instant.

...

"Yuhe, go fetch the Young Master!" Zheng Lin's brows were furrowed deeply, and he was troubled. The girl's condition was critical. The poison had spread throughout her body after she forced herself to use her internal energy. Ordinary treatment would no longer suffice. If the toxins weren't expelled soon, she wouldn't survive the night.

Yuhe glanced at the nearly lifeless Miss before quickly rushing out.

Within a short while, she returned, breathless. "Where is the Young Master?" Zheng Lin looked around, but there was no sign of him. A sense of unease gripped him. Could it be that he was abandoning her treatment?

"The Young Master said for you to handle it, and not to bother him unless it's absolutely necessary." Yuhe relayed Gu Han's words verbatim.

"You must find a way to get her to take the medicine. Whether she survives is in her fate now." Zheng Lin sighed heavily, his voice heavy with resignation...

...

"Her condition is dire. If you don't help her circulate her internal energy to detoxify, she may not survive tonight." Zheng Lin approached Gu Han, his expression stern as he looked at him. "Whether she is saved or not is entirely up to you." With that, Zheng Lin turned and walked away. Only Gu Han could neutralize the poison within her—no one else could do it. Sigh… Zheng Lin couldn't tell if he was making the right choice or not.
