"Everything must be substantiated with evidence. On what grounds should we believe you?" A voice, the leader of an unknown sect, first voiced the doubt.
"This is a letter personally written by Evan Skylar, containing a detailed account of the entire plan." Elora produced a stack of letters from her sleeve, all correspondence between Evan Skylar and the conspirators. These letters had been retrieved by Elora during her covert infiltration of Evan Skylar's study, hidden in a secret compartment. The letters were concealed so well that without Vixen's assistance, Elora would never have found them—hidden within a booklet that documented the private affairs of the various sects!
She had made Vixen perfectly replicate them. Surely, Evan Skylar never imagined she'd acquire such proof?
"Why waste time talking? Just strike!" Drake, the most hot-tempered among them, barked impatiently. The group exchanged uneasy glances, none daring to move forward. Clearly, Elora's words had unsettled them.
A moment of panic flickered in Evan Skylar's heart. Impossible. Those letters were still in his study. This temptress must have forged them to trick him. He could not fall into her trap. Quickly, he regained his composure and glared at Elora. "Witch! Cease your attempts to sow discord among us!"
The disciples of various sects were momentarily swayed. If they had committed such vile deeds, they would have hidden them away. How could she have gotten her hands on these? Surely, this witch was just trying to drive a wedge between them.
"Everyone, listen to me," Evan Skylar shouted. "Do not fall for this sorceress's schemes. Let us eradicate this evil sect and rid the martial world of its blight!" With that, he leapt forward and engaged Elora, with the others quickly joining the fray.
"Tell me, witch, where is the Nebula Eclipse?" Evan Skylar demanded, his gaze cold and piercing. "Hand it over, and I'll spare your life."
"It is... it is..." Elora leaned close to his ear, and just as he thought she was about to speak, she pulled away.
Seeing the ever-changing expression on Evan Skylar's face, Elora couldn't help but burst into laughter.
"You treacherous fool, you dare play me!" Evan Skylar, enraged, intensified his attacks.
"Skylar, we had an agreement! I was to give you the Nebula Eclipse, and you were to retreat. How can you go back on your word?" Elora intentionally left several openings in her defense, allowing Evan Skylar to gain the upper hand temporarily.
Evan Skylar, full of self-satisfaction, believed he had trapped Elora, unaware that she was the true mastermind behind this entire scheme.
Elora sneered at the self-important Evan Skylar. Having mastered the Nebula Eclipse, his techniques, while impressive among his peers, were riddled with flaws in her eyes. Had she not been stalling to wait for the poison to take effect, she would have already ended him. Instead, she allowed him to dance before her.
As they exchanged blows, Elora kept track of the time, waiting for the poison to enter his brain. Yes, when she leaned close to him earlier, she had secretly poisoned him. All she had to do now was wait for the venom to spread and for Silver Pearl to take control of Evan Skylar. Once that happened, he would reveal all his past wrongdoings.
"Evan Skylar, tell me where the Nebula Eclipse is!" Gabriel, hearing Elora's words, thought Evan Skylar had gained the upper hand. He rushed to his side, demanding answers.
Evan Skylar, seeing Gabriel, immediately pulled back his sword and disengaged from the battle. He had just been on the verge of capturing Elora, and now Gabriel had ruined it by rushing in. Had it not been for the presence of other martial artists, he would have already killed Gabriel to prevent him from hindering his plans.
"That bitch didn't say anything. How can I give it to you?" Evan Skylar muttered impatiently.
"You're trying to keep it all for yourself, aren't you?" Gabriel retorted, his anger rising at Evan Skylar's arrogant tone. "We agreed long ago that I would help you tarnish Nebula Sect's reputation so you could seize the Nebula Eclipse. Afterward, we would share it. Now, you're using me and planning to discard me? Dream on!"
Gabriel's words, loud and clear, reached the ears of everyone present, and their expressions shifted. What about Elora's evidence? Could they now dismiss Gabriel's words as mere manipulation?
Seizing the opportunity, Elora soared into the air, looking down at them from above. "Evan Skylar, tell me—did you secretly ruin the reputation of Nebula Sect?"
"Ha... Yes, I did send people to tarnish Nebula Sect's name, and so what?" Evan Skylar said, unfazed, facing the crowd with a confident smile. He was not at all disconcerted by the revelation, even finding it amusing. "Those fools actually thought it was Nebula Sect behind it!"
"Is that the truth?" Elora's voice cut through the tension, and the righteous martial artists began to speak out against Evan Skylar.
If Gabriel's words had left any room for doubt, now the truth was undeniable. Evan Skylar had been behind these heinous acts, all for the sake of the Nebula Eclipse. How could he justify sacrificing innocent lives for his own selfish desires?
"No, you misunderstand! Those atrocities were committed by the evil sect, not me!" Evan Skylar snapped back, suddenly realizing the gravity of the situation as he observed their changing expressions. It was clear no one believed him anymore.
Suddenly, a flash of insight struck him. He glared at Elora, like a wolf eyeing its prey. "It was you!"
