They set off, their laughter and chatter gradually fading. Before long, they came to a halt, stuck in traffic.
"Oh, come on! I hate traffic. Why today?" Maxwell muttered under his breath.
"There's no escaping it in this country," Hailey sighed.
Maxwell turned on some music, and they both sat back, enjoying it as they waited. A few moments later, a desperate driver three cars behind them began honking, each blast louder than the last. The driver directly in front of him shouted angrily, "Are you blind? Can't you see there's no space ahead?"
The honking driver hurled more curses, prompting the frustrated driver in front to step out of his car, heading straight for the offender. Not to be outdone, the honking driver got out as well, both men ready for a confrontation. They glared at each other, tension thick in the air.
Most people stayed in their cars, watching the drama unfold. Eventually, the situation escalated into a fistfight, but no one bothered to step in. Hailey and Maxwell were so absorbed in the scene that they didn't notice the traffic had started moving again until the car behind them honked.
"Oh, just when it was getting good," Hailey said, disappointed as they finally moved forward.
Maxwell laughed, clearly amused. "Isn't it funny how you always say, 'I hate drama'?"
"I hate drama when I'm part of it," Hailey replied, giving him a playful glare. "But it's fun when you're just watching."
Maxwell raised his hands in mock surrender. "My bad, ma'am," he said with a wry smile.
Hailey gave him a light push on the head before turning up the music and singing loudly, purposely off-key, just to annoy him.
A call interrupted them, and Hailey quickly turned off the music to answer.
"Hello? Hello?" she said, but there was no response—just a strange, faint *cling cling* sound.
"Hello? Hello?" she repeated, but then the call abruptly hung up.
"Who was that?" Maxwell asked.
"I don't know," Hailey replied, frowning. "It was an unknown number. No one answered."They set off, their laughter and chatter gradually fading. Before long, they came to a halt, stuck in traffic.
