Blake's POV
I have decided to go to school today. I had not been attending for far too long. Even though I can just not, I want to be here so that I can see Brielle. Yes, I now know my mate's name. I did a background check on her. I think her me suits her a lot. I wanted to see her a lot. I don't know if that's the way I feel or if it's just the mate bond working its magic on me. Whatever it is, I've decided to give it a try. I can't wait for Brielle and I to get to know each other and one day I can open up to her about the truth. I walked into the hallway and kept peaking into classrooms to catch a glimpse of her. Maybe an easier way would have been to go and ask for her class schedule. Nah, I can just keep doing this until I find her. While I was at it, a whiff of her mesmerizing scent hit my senses so strongly that it nearly knocked me off my feet. She must have been in the next class. I let my feet carry me toward her scent.
I walked into the classroom and noticed her sitting in the middle row, her hair let down slightly blown by the wind, and completely unaware of her surroundings. The teacher saw me and so did the other students. I placed a finger on my lips to indicate to them to be quiet. Everyone got the message and I quietly made my way over to Brielle and took a seat beside her. It took a few seconds for her to notice my presence. Her eyes grew wide in surprise as they looked around to see how I managed to get to her. I didn't notice before, but she is really cute, innocent, and pure.
" You? How did you-"
" Get here?" I asked, cutting her off.
" Oh, that's simple. I came in here and noticed you sitting here, and I thought of joining you. I even wanted to apologize for our last encounter."
She glared at me for a moment, looking at me with suspicion.
" Now is not really a good time," she whispered. She looked away from me and tried to ignore me. All I did was just sit there and observe her. Throughout the period, she kept stealing glances at me only to see that I was doing nothing but staring at her. I noticed how uncomfortable she was under my gaze and decided to give her a break. I smiled and left her in the class. She was right. It was not the time for us to get properly acquainted in front of everyone's eyes. I spent the day thinking only about her, hoping to catch her during lunchtime.
That time came, and I immediately went to the cafeteria and sat at an empty table. I commanded everyone not to approach me and mind their own business. I didn't want any disturbances when I was with Brielle. She was taking time to come, and my thoughts wandered off to Kyle. Something strange was going on with him. He is never around most of the time, and we hardly ever talk anymore. I fail to ask him what is going on in his life because I face my own problems, but I should make time to catch up with him. He is my Beta and whatever happens in his life concerns me as well, and I would like to be there for him.
My train of thought is cut off when I get a whiff of my mate's scent and I turn back to see her standing in line to buy food. I went over to her and grabbed her hand. She looked startled because I caught her off guard. I tried to take her with me, but she resisted.
" What the hell is wrong with you? You keep popping up out of nowhere. And now you are grabbing my hand without my permission?" Luckily, no one paid attention to us as I instructed. I don't want anything between us to be awkward.
" Would you stop fighting and just let me help you?" She scoffed and tried to pull out her arm from my grip, but she couldn't. My grip on her arm was strong but not enough to hurt her.
" Let go of me already. I didn't ask for your help. "
I ignored her and dragged ger to the counter. The lunch ladies didn't object and I took her order. She was angry at me but she would survive. I took her to the vacant table I was waiting for her at and pulled a chair out for her.
" What's your problem? You won't let me have a moment of peace today and I don't even know your name. Why are you doing this to me? You didn't have to cause a scene in line. I don't want to get on anyone's bad side," she complained.
" Why would you get on anyone's bad side when I was the one who made you cut the line? Anyway, you mentioned not knowing my name, so I would like to formally introduce myself to you as someone you will frequently encounter in this school."
I extended my hand over the table.
" My name is Blake Grayson. Nice to meet you..."
She stared at my hand hesitantly, still cautious of me, but she knew better in the few times we met that I am not one to easily give up. She sighs and places her small hand in mine and I grip it. Our contact sends shock waves to my spine, solidifying our bond.
"Brielle. Brielle Johnson," she mumbles. I smirk and say," Nice to meet you, Brie. I can call you that, right?"
" Whatever," She mumbles with a hint of annoyance and pulls her hand away, and I let her go this time. I don't want to come off strong on her. I have managed to get a little close to her. Although it's a little forced, soon our connection will be mutual.
" Are you not done? Should I eat while you watch me?" she asks, hesitating to hear in front of me.
" Yes. You can eat in front of me. I don't mind at all." Her eyes narrowed at me as she gave me the "Seriously" look. I chuckled to myself. What would it give to put a smile on her face for once? Since we met she has never smiled at me. Am I that annoying or does the thought of socializing annoy her? I have never seen her with anyone before. She is always alone.
It doesn't matter. From now on, I will be her person. I won't let her be alone while she is here. I will be her company, a friend, and eventually her lover.
