Blake's POV
" Were you really waiting for me?" I asked her teasingly as soon as she came in.
" Were you really waiting for me?" I asked her teasingly as soon as she came in front of me. Front of me.
" I wasn't, but you might think I was if that makes you feel good," she said teasingly as well, and I chuckled.
" Let's go," I said, opening the door for her. She got inside, and I rounded the car to go to my side. I got inside and started the car, driving out of school.
" I've been meaning to ask you," I said, looking at her. She glances at me with her angelic eyes and I almost lose my grip on the stirring wheel. I cleared my throat and focused on what I was trying to say.
" I wanted to take you somewhere. Would you mind?"
" Somewhere?" she asks inquisitively
" Where is that exactly?"
" It's somewhere special to me," I replied, focusing my gaze back on the road.
" I have never taken anyone there before. It has always been my exclusive hideout spot where I go when I am feeling down and just want to be alone. It's peaceful and beautiful. That place allows me to clear out my thoughts and just be at peace for some time. I wanted it to just be my ace, but now, I want to share it with you. It could be our place," I said more to myself than to her, but she still heard me. I felt her tense up beside me. I hoped I didn't overstep my boundaries.
There was complete silence for a minute. I was about to dismiss my suggestion and take her home, but she spoke up.
" Well... I guess there is no harm in going to a place that brings you peace. As long as you promise to take me back home in one piece."
A smile broke out of my face. I was elated. I felt it was a step closer to my goal. To us officially being together.
" I will never let anything happen to you. I am just so happy that you agreed to this. You won't regret it."
From then on, the ride was silent. A comfortable silence enveloped us as I drove us to the place. She stared out the window, looking at the trees and the night sky. I was content with her soothing presence. So this is what it feels like to have a mate. I almost didn't get to feel this feeling. I don't regret choosing her. Not one bit.
After some time of driving, I stopped.
" We are here," I announced.
Let's get out. We still have to walk for a bit before we really get there."
" It's so dark out here. Do we have to walk through the woods? I won't be able to do it. I don't want to stumble to my death," she says, looking uncertain and scared.
" You will have to trust and lean on me. I have night vision, so I will be able to see through the dark. Will you trust me just this once?" I asked hopefully. She was quiet for some time, seemingly contemplating her decision. Finally, she nodded her head. Both of us got out of the car and I reached out my hand to her, so I could help her navigate in the dark.
She grabbed my arm and held on to it tightly. I felt tingles run down my veins. I took pleasure in that action. With my night vision, I walked through the woods. I kept telling Brielle what to beware of, but she somehow kept tripping.
" Can I carry you on my back? I think that will work better." She looked perplexed and hesitant about my offer.
" I-I I don't think that's a good idea. I might be too heavy for you," she mumbles under her breath.
" There is nothing to worry about. Trust me. You are not heavy and if you were, it wouldn't be a problem. I am a werewolf after all," I said, trying to give her a confidence boost. It worked because she agreed to let me carry her.
I lowered myself by squatting to allow her to get on my back. She put her hands on my shoulders and her legs wrapped around my waist as I rose to my length.
She was tense, trying not to put her whole weight on me. I pushed her forward and held on to her thighs.
" Relax, okay? We'll get there soon enough." She got comfortable on my back and that made me happy. I continued walking until I got to the cliff. We're out of the woods and into the opening. The moon could reach here and provide light. The moon seemed like it was closer to here.
" We are here," I announced to Brielle. She was already looking around mesmerized. I smiled and let her down. Her reaction told me what I needed to know.
" This is it. My quiet place."
" It's beautiful," she says.
" Come and sit down," I told her and removed my jacket, placing it on the ground for her to sit on.
She smiles, and I take her hand, helping her sit, and I sit beside her.
" Thank you for bringing me here. It's so beautiful and peaceful."
" You can come here whenever you want. But I wouldn't advise it because it's not safe to be out here alone. We can come together when you want to," I suggested to her.
" Yes, that would be better," she replies and does something that catches me off guard.
She scoots closer to me and lays her head on my shoulder. I momentarily tensed up but I quickly relaxed. Things were taking a turn for the better. We sat in comfortable silence looking at the moon.
