Chapter 30

Blake's POV

When I got home, I intended to take a shower. I kept thinking about Brielle and kissed her, and it instantly got me hard. This doesn't usually happen, but it happens only when you are madly in love with your mate. The packhouse was quiet and no one was around. I sighed in relief. I didn't want my nosy mother to ask me about anything.

My mother has been so invested in my relationship and is going with Brielle. She wants to know when the future Luna and her daughter-in-law will come to live with us. The last time she met her, it was not under good circumstances. From then on, she approved of Brielle. Not that I needed it, but it made me happy that my mother was going to get along with the woman I love. I told her that it was not going to be easy to get her daughter-in-law here just yet. She understood.

On my way to my room, I heard sounds coming from Kyle's room. I walked by, not wanting to disturb him, but something stopped me in my tracks. That smell. I couldn't put my finger on it. It was faint but I still caught it. A rogue. I was confused. A rogue? How can that be? In Kyle's room.

I stood in the hallway not knowing what to do. I wanted to go to Kyle's room and see what was going on, but then again, I was afraid of what I would encounter if whatever I thought was going on was true.

I made up my mind on the spot. I am Alpha and whatever goes wrong, I have to face it. Even if it concerns my Beta and best friend Kyle. I turned back and went in front of his door. I lightly knocked. There was no response, but I could still sense Kyle's presence and someone.

" Kyle opened up. I want to talk to you about something." I called out to him, persistently knocking on his door. I heard shuffling before I heard footsteps approaching the door. Kyle slowly opened the door but didn't open it all the way. My eyes immediately tried to get a look into his room, but he quickly blocked my vision. That is suspicious.

My eyes met with his. He looked nervous and couldn't get eye contact.

" Are you okay dude? Is something up with you?" I asked him.

" Me? I am perfect. There's nothing wrong with me. I was just about to go to bed," he replied nonchalantly. But that was more suspicious. He clinked to the gap between the door and the door frame.

I stared at him. " Are you sure everything is fine? Are you with someone or something?" I asked and tried to get a look inside, but he narrowed the gap, almost trying to shut me out.

" I'm alone Alpha. I am tired, and I just want to get some sleep." He indeed looked haggard and stressed. At that moment, I realized that we had drifted apart ever since I found my mate and have been focusing on her. Now, Kyle has started keeping things from me and I don't even know what is wrong with him. It's been long since we had a drink and just chilled out.

I decided to approach the matter cautiously. I didn't want to accuse him of anything or make an issue out of nothing. So I decided to do the only thing that would loosen him up and help him confide in me.

" Alright. Let's have a drink at the bar and I will tell you all about my mate. I really need someone to talk to. " I suggested to him.

He looked hesitant. " I can't. I am tired, and I just want to sleep." I wasn't going to give up. I was going to get to the bottom of whatever was going on with him before anything serious happened.

I pulled him out of his room and shut the door. He tried to go back in, but I blocked him.

" Nope. The night is still young. You are not going back in. It's been a long time since we spent time together. We might as well use this opportunity while we are both here and not busy with something else."

He reluctantly agreed, and I dragged him to the bar. I took out two glasses and handed one to him. I could see he was lost in thought and not at all with me. I picked up a bottle of whiskey and poured it for him. I poured some for myself and then put it down. I clicked out glasses before gulping down the whiskey in one go. Man did it burn.

I made a face, making Kyle chuckle. " What the rush? Not long ago, you said the night is still young." He took a sip of his drink.

I smile. It finally felt like old times when we used to tease and banter with each other about regular guy stuff.

" I guess I was a bit impatient," I smirked and poured myself another drink.

We sat down and continued drinking in silence. We were on our second bottle, and we took turns pouring whiskey for each other.

" I never thought that I could find happiness in a human girl," I began. Kyle glances at me.

" On my birthday, things took a really unexpected turn. I thought no matter, I was going to choose Rea, but I ended up falling for a human girl." I thought of her as I sipped my drink.

Kyle listened to me without saying a word. Instead, he began gulping down his whiskey.

" Brielle is a simple girl who likes to keep to herself. She is very different from the girl I was used to before she came into my life, but I can't help but love everything about her. In a short time, she has become my everything and I want her to be with me all the time. I constantly think about her and my heart feels full when she smiles at me."

Silence. I was expecting him to say something, but he hung his head, gripping the glass in his hand. He put pressure on it until it broke in his hand and the glass shards pieced it.

I waited for him to tell me what he had to say. I heard him sniffle. Was he crying?

He lifted his head to look at me. I could see tears in his eyes. I was shocked, not knowing what to say or do. He looked drunk. I looked at the empty bottle he finished. It takes a lot more to get a werewolf drunk. He must be really emotional.

" I am sorry brother," he cried. I put my hands on his shoulder in concern.

" What's the matter, Kyle? I've never seen you like this." I was beginning to overthink things. Did he do something? Was he in trouble?

" I am sorry_" he kept repeating over and over like a broken record. I was getting frustrated until he spoke more clearly.

" M-My mate... she is a rogue," he confessed.
