Chapter 60

Brielle's POV

The car stopped at his house. I was confused for a while, wondering what was going on. But before I had the chance to ask, I saw his mother come out of the house and stood in front. Both of us got out of the car and went ahead to greet her.

" You are both finally here. Not to worry. Everything is ready."

I was lost about what she was talking about.

" Thank you mother. I knew I could count on you."

" Oh, forgive me dear. In all my excitement I forgot to welcome you properly."

Again, before I could say anything, she hugged me. Not surprised because it is what she does when she sees me. I hugged her back.

" It's good to see you, mother. How have you been? " I asked. Since Blake and I are serious, I started calling her mother. It was also because she insisted I address her as such, and I didn't see a problem with that.

" I'm happy to see you too, dear. I am sure you are as excited as I am about your dinner date."

I blush. It was really a comfort for both our families to be supportive of our relationship. I felt so lucky that I was blessed enough not to have to deal with a jealous mother who either wants a girl of her choice for her son or just wants to keep her son to herself. Blake's mother is so easy going and happy with her son's choice. I guess there are even mothers who are not jealous or overprotective of their sons. And I am one of the lucky girls.

I was still pretty confused about the dinner part. Are we going to be having dinner at the house? I guess so or else why would we be here? It's not bad at all. I don't really mind about the place, as long as I am with him.

" Thank you for your hard work, mother. Brielle and I will go ahead now. See you." Blake said and pulled me in another direction.

" Where are we going, Blake? Are we not going inside? Mom must have prepared food. Is it okay to just leave?" I asked in concern.

" Don't worry about that. Mother prepared food for both of us. We will be having dinner elsewhere." That's all he said, so I took it and just followed him.

We stopped in front of a glass handstand that was outside near the woods. There was a trail of red roses outside. From outside, I could see fairy lights shining brightly in the room. We were just outside, and I was already in awe. He took my hand and took it inside. I was speechless. Everything was beautiful.

" So, what do you think? Is it to your liking?" he asks, and I just nod my head, my mouth still not cooperating with me.

" I'm glad you like it. I wasn't sure what you would think about this. I thought maybe you would have wanted to go a restaurant-"

I cut him off.

" No way! I would prefer this over a restaurant a thousand times. I love this lovely, cozy set up. It's perfect."

I heard him let out a sigh of relief.

" Alright then. Let's waste no time."

He said, ushering me to take a seat.

I must admit that this is unexpected but in a very good way. I really love this set up and how much thought he put into it. There is nothing that is more special than what he has done here. We have all this place to ourselves.

The table was covered in a floral white cloth and there was a three-candle candelabra to which Blake lit the candles. A bottle of non-alcoholic wine and a cheese platter for starters. While I was still admiring everything, soft music began playing in the room.

Everything was perfect. There was nothing more I could wish for at the moment. I was living the dream. I felt like the female lead in a romantic movie. I was squealing inside.

" Would you like to have a drink?" Blake asked. Right. Now that I think about it, I feel thirsty.

"Yes, please."

He proceeded to take the bottle of wine and poured some for me.

" I got the non-alcoholic kind. I hope you don't mind."

" No, it's just fine." I took a sip of the wine and it was fruity and refreshing. It tasted like a tropical fruit wine. I enjoyed it along with the cheese. While enjoying the delicacies, I noticed that Blake was just sitting across from me, staring at me with a soft smile. I felt shy under his gaze and wondered if I had something on my face.

" Why are y-you j-just looking at me? Have some too," I said as I pushed the cheese platter at him.

Gosh. I can't believe I just started stuffing my face without thinking about him after everything he did to get this together for me. The least I can do is thank him for everything.

" I am fine. It seems like you are enjoying yourself and that is more than enough for me. So go ahead." He pushed the platter at me.

" Thank you for all this. It's beautiful."

He took my hand and said," I am happy when you are."

That's right. He is always doing things for my sake and I feel like I am left behind, and I can't seem to catch up with him. I want to do something special and meaningful for him as well, but I can't wrap my head around what I should do for him that would make him happy. Maybe I should get him something for his birthday. I have to let him know about my decision. I shall do so after we have dinner. I am sure that he will be happy with my decision. I wait to see his reaction to it.
