Chapter 75

Blake's POV

We finally managed to get Rea to tell us what she knew. She told us everything about that night when things happened. She was aimlessly lurking in the words, looking over the pack house. She was waiting for a chance to attack Brielle. No surprise there. But then one night, she wasn't alone. Two people came, and they were trying to look for an opening. She tried to hide from them but while running away, she snapped a branch on the ground and they caught her.

It was a woman and a man. Strangely, so they started asking about Brielle. She refused to tell them anything, thinking she had been caught by some pack members and tried to escape from them. They wouldn't let her go and kept asking her questions about the pack. She then realized that they were not pack members, and she thought about divulging information about Brielle would work in her favor. Before she could sag anything, Mia came and saw what was happening. She intervened, trying to help Rea. She fought the woman. With Alpha genes, Mia was overpowering the woman.

Rea was still in the man's tight grip, not allowing her to move. Everything was ruined now that Mia showed up. She had been avoiding Mia, who tried several times to reach out to her. Mia fought and almost bit into that woman's throat, but before that could happen, that woman managed to subdue Mia by stabbing a syringe into her neck. It was probably wolfsbane, since she got weak and collapsed.

The moment the guy who was holding her let her go to inspect the woman Mia was fighting, Rea took it as her chance to escape. Mia was lying on the floor and weakly tried to reach out to her, asking for help. She said she was scared and there was just nothing she could do. The odds were against her. She left Mia there and ran away.

No matter how many times I hear it, I can't help but get angry at her. She could have made a different choice that night and Mia would have been alive. She just had to run to the pack house and ask for help. As always, she thought about herself. I was struggling to hold myself together. It was just too much to bare, and I am sure without Brielle by my side I would have shattered irreparably. I am afraid I would have already killed Rea by now.

After speaking with Rea, I sent her to old man Tim. One of the oldest pack members and a great artist. We have got a lead from a man and woman involved in my sister's death. Now all we need is the description of their appearance so that it gets easier to identify them. I was partially pleased by this progress. Soon we will identify the culprits and I can finally get justice for my sister and lay this to rest. Our wounds will take forever to heal, but knowing that those who killed her are dealt with will help us heal.

For now, I have decided not to let Rea go. She has to he with us every step of the way until the end. She owes Mia that mych. After that, she can go wherever the hell she wants, but I don't want to see her for a second or longer after that. That will be where it ends for us.

Brielle went to my room after we talked to Rea. She was quiet and lost somewhere. I didn't get a chance to ask what was bothering her, so I was going to see her while I awaited the sketches to be done. I hope it's a success because Rea said she can remember their faces very well, but she was going to try to recollect as much as she can.

I opened the door and went inside the room. I found Brielle standing by the window. She was so immersed in her thoughts that she didn't even hear me walk behind her. I touched her shoulder and she jumped, looking back at me. She sighed once she saw it was just me.

" I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you."

" It's alright. I didn't hear you come in. How are the sketches coming along?" She asked as I stood beside her.

" Elder Tim is still working on them. I don't know how long it is going to take, but all we can do is be patient."

She nodded her head, saying nothing more.

" Hey, are you okay? I'd noticed earlier that you were kind of off. Is something bothering you?"

" Oh, I am fine. It's just that it's been a long day. I think I'm just tired," she replied convincingly, but I wasn't buying that. She didn't want to tell me what was going on, but I didn't want her to suffer through her troubles while she is there supporting me. I sighed and took her hands in mine. I brought her hands to my lips and gently kissed them.

" You know, right? You can tell me anything. Absolutely anything that is bothering you without fear. I am here, as you are here for me."

She stared at me for a while and I waited patiently to tell me what was going on in her mind. She turned away from me and I realized that this might not be no small matter.

" How do I tell you? Where do I even begin? I... Just don't know what to say," she says, sounding frustrated, confused and in despair.

I went in front of her so that she could face and talk to me. I don't understand what she said, but I want her to tell me what is bothering her, so I can at least try to help her.

" It's...," she hesitated.

" Go on," I said to her in encouragement.

She sighs and takes a breath.

" I am not sure, but I think I know who is behind everything."

I was still confused by was she said.

" Earlier, Rea mentioned that the people she encountered asked about me."

Come to think of it, Rea really did say that. I must have not paid enough attention to what she was saying. Who would want to know about Brielle going to the length to hurt Mia? I didn't think about it at all.

" Yes. I heard her say that. What about it? Do you know anything?"

She sighed again.

" I have to tell you something. It's important, and I think it might have something to do with all of this."

By the way she sounded, it must be serious. All I had to do was listen.
