Brielle's POV
I was yawning none stop. I couldn't sleep at all. Neither did Blake. We spent the night trying to get her Romi to sleep, but we failed. She cried throughout the night. Blake and I had to take turns trying to pacify her. When she finally settled down, we placed her between us to sleep. It was a rough night, and then I realized what Morgan was complaining about. Jeez, her wailing was no joke. I thought that it was going to be easy, but boy was I wrong.
Anyway, Romi is back with her parents. They came back in the early hours of the morning but waited for us to wake up before coming to get Romi. Blake and I just slept in until noon to regain our strength back.
Now I was sitting on the couch in our room watching videos on my phone. Blake came in and sat beside me. He was quiet for a while, and it seemed like something was bothering him. I turned off my phone and turned to him.
" Hey, what are you thinking about?"
He snapped out of it.
" Me? Oh, I wasn't thinking about anything. Don't worry about it."
Now I know that he was lying. When he says not to worry about it, it actually makes me worry about him.
" Come on, Blake. I know that's not the case, so tell me already if there is something you want to say. "
He was silent for a while before he sighed and gave in.
" Okay, you are right. There is something I need to tell you."
There we go. I gave him my full attention so he could talk to me.
" I've been meaning to talk to you about this, but I didn't really get a proper chance. It's something important," he paused, looking at me nervously. That made me nervous as well.
" Alright. So then, tell me. I'm listening."
He looked away from me and continued speaking.
" Actually, it's about us. Ever since we got together, it's been a while, and I've put off this for some time so that I could give you time to adjust to everything. But now, time is not on our side and this has to be done. Still, I have to ask you."
I was silent without saying anything, just waiting for him to finish what he was saying. What's this anyway? Is it somehow asking me to ask him to marry him? If he is, what do I say to that? I think that it is a little too soon.
Oh dear. I panicked internally.
" What I wanted to tell you is about the ceremony. Although everyone already knows and accepts you as my Luna and the Luna of the pack, we have to do it formally with a ceremony accepting you in the pack as it's an official Luna."
He reached in his pocket and took out a crescent moon pendant.
" What do you say, Brielle? Will you do me the honor of officially being my mate and Luna?"
I just stared at him without saying anything. And here I was panicking that he was going to propose marriage. In a way, this is still a kind of proposal as well.
I nodded my head and cleared my throat.
" Oh, yeah. Yes. Yes! I will officially become your mate." I smiled.
" Really?" he asks, looking happy.
" Yes. Why the hell not? I would want nothing more than to be your mate."
He picked me up and spun me around like I weighed nothing. He put me down and gave me a big kiss, pushing for control, but before it got deeper, I pushed him away a little to be able to breathe.
" Hold on a second. Are you not supposed to give me something," I said, reminding him of the necklace in his hand.
" Oh, right. Let me put it on you."
I turned around and gathered my hair, moving it away so he could put the necklace on me.
" This is our ancestral necklace. It's been passed down from Luna to Luna. My mother was supposed to hand it down to you, but I asked her to let me do it. Hopefully, this gets handed down to its predecessor when it's time. For now, it's yours."
He was entrusting me with an invaluable gift. This means a lot to me. I smiled while holding the pendant. It glinted in contact with the light.
I turned around and kissed him.
" Thank you. I will keep it on me and cherish it for as long as I live, as I will love and cherish you as well."
" Sounds like a vow."
" It is a vow," I said.
" A vow I intend to keep," I said to myself.
We hugged each other. I can't believe he was so nervous to ask me about the ceremony. I wouldn't say no to that, heck I wouldn't even say no to marriage. I would walk down that isle for him without hesitation. I will waste no time this time. We will be together and happy living out the days of life till we grow old. That is what I want the most in this life. Nothing else.
