Blake's POV
Today, I am the happiest man there is. My best friend just asked me to be his daughter's godfather. It was a big request which I humbly accepted. And now, I am about to officially accept my mate in front of everyone. Us guys were quick to get ready, and we were only waiting for the girls to come down. Mom just went up to get them. As the time neared, I was getting nervous. I felt like the tie was choking me, so I loosened it a little bit.
Once everything is in place, Brielle and I will go first, followed by Kyle and Morgan. I explained to Brielle about everything that would happen so she wouldn't be caught off guard. Everyone that mattered to me and her was here. Mom came downstairs alone.
" Where are they, mother?" I asked, thinking about the worst of the situation. Could she be getting cold feet and not want to do this anymore? What a silly thought. I shook my head and listened to my mother's response.
" Don't worry about it. They will be down in a minute."
" Okay, thanks mom."
Kyle stood beside me and said," Calm down, Blake. The bells aren't ringing yet. This is just a ceremony. Save the nerves for the wedding," he joked.
Yeah, right. He was the one who couldn't focus earlier. Now he is the one teasing me.
" You are one to talk."
Brielle and Morgan appeared and walked downstairs. Kyle and I waited at the bottom of the stairs to welcome them. Brielle looked like an angel descending from the heavens. Each day, she makes me feel lucky to have her by my side.
I took her hand to help her down the last step.
" Hi," I said nervously.
" Hey," she says back.
" You look... very beautiful."
Yes. I was whipped for this girl. Ruined for all.
" I can say the same about you. You look handsome as always."
I kissed her on her cheek and held her hand.
" Are you ready?" I asked her. I wanted to make sure that she was still up to this.
" I am ready. Now let's go."
We smiled at each other and started making our way outside, followed by Kyle and Morgan. We waved and greeted people we met on the way to the podium set in the middle of the yard for the ceremony. It was just like the time I became the Alpha of the pack. The elders that would get us through the ceremony were already there. As we neared the podium, I felt Brielle's hand tighten. She was naturally nervous with all these eyes on her. I squeezed her hand back in reassurance. She looked at me and I nodded my head at her.
She drew in the air and let it out slowly to calm her nerves. We arrived at the podium and I helped her up. Many people were looking at us. It must be nerve wrecking for her.
One of the elders got up and announced the commencement of the ceremony.
" Tonight, we are here to welcome Brielle Johnson as the Luna of the Blue Moon Pack. Let us welcome her and give her respect like our Luna."
Everyone in the crowd cheered happily.
" Please, Brielle. Step forward and let's carry on with the ceremony."
Brielle stepped forward and looked back at me. I kept assuring her every step of the way. I was right behind her.
" Give me your right palm, dear."
She extended her hand to the elder, who then picked up a knife. Brielle's body tensed and she clenched her other hand. I wanted to hold her hand through it, but I had to let her be strong. She can get through this.
The elder made a swift cut through her palm. She winced and bit her lip to stop herself from making a sound. The blood from her palm was poured into the ceremonial sacred chalice. The moon was up high, full and illuminating its glorious light on us.
I quickly went to Brielle and handed her a cloth to stop the bleeding. Unlike any of us, the wound won't heal any too quickly.
" You did well," I whispered to her before stepping back again.
The elder held up the chalice and made a prayer in Latin. Every one of us quietly listened to him as he chanted. After a little while, he finished and put the chalice down.
" That is it. Brielle Johnson, mate of Alpha Blake Grayson, is now the Luna of the Blue Moon Pack!"
Everyone roared in cheers, making me happy. I know that some of the members disapprove of Brielle becoming the Luna as a human, but they know to keep their opinions to themselves. They wouldn't know better than the Moon Goddess who paired us together. Nonetheless, everything was going well. And I was happy that this day finally came.
