Chapter 117

Xavier's POV

I expect nothing less. I knew that it wasn't going to be easy, but alas, we had to come to a compromise. Anything to get out of this situation. To be honest, I didn't care that methods would be used to bind us. Even death would be fine, but not now. I need to stay alive a little longer so that I can make amends. Only then, can I die in peace.

River and Amaya. I never thought I would get to see them again, but I did. I know there is a lot of bad blood between us and things are not easy for any of us. I may not show it a lot, but I am ashamed and regretful about my past actions. I wish 8 could make amends even if it is something small. I wish to one day apologize sincerely to River and Brielle.

Once we got to the dungeon, the guard pushed me inside. It was a little dark but with my wolf vision, I could see. I saw Julian in the corner looking worn out. He was injured, and his clothes were torn.

I walked to him. He seemed to be sleeping and didn't sense me.

I sat beside him and didn't wake him up. They must have tortured him. I can't blame them. If only he listened to me and didn't rush into things. I can't even get angry at him.

After an hour or so, he finally came around. He woke up, and it took him a while to get back his senses.

Upon realizing that I was here, he jumped, startled.

" Xavier! Is that you?!

I sighed and rolled my eyes.

" What? Why are you looking at me like you have just seen a ghost?"

" W-What are you doing here? Did they put you in here because of me?"

I smiled." Of course. What other reason could they put me in here for?" I replied sarcastically.

He looked away in shame. There was a moment of awkward silence between us. It was unbearable. I've been sitting in silence while he was asleep. I can't take it more.

I sighed.

" What you did was very wrong. For the fist time, you went against me as your Alpha and you even went through the length to keep me confined. You betrayed me."

" I-"

" No!" I cut him off.

" I will speak now, and you will listen."

" As I said, what you did was wrong. And that is what landed here today. I pleaded with them to let you come back with me. It took a lot of effort but finally, we came to an agreement. They have agreed to let this transgression of yours go. But before that, we have to do something before they can allow us to leave."

" I... I am sorry. You should not have come to the rescue. I wouldn't have blamed you if you abandoned me. I deserve that. Now, you are trapped in this because of me."

He sounded very remorseful. It's the first time in a long time that I have heard him sound like that.

" Don't be ridiculous, Julian," I chided.

" How can you expect me to just abandon you here? You and I have been through a lot together. All these years, I have had you by my side and no one else. You know me better and how I feel. We supported each other at all times, good or bad. Then how can you suddenly think I would leave you on your own now?"

I heard him sniffle. Wait a minute. Is he crying? Now that is a first. I've never seen him cry before. He always acts so tough. Too bad I don't have my phone on me. It would be golden to get a video of him in his vulnerable state.

" I don't deserve your kindness. I was crazy to go against you."

" Good that you know. Now, enough of your apologies. We are going to get out of here. And once we are, we will live in repentance. It's time we washed our hearts of hatred. That is the promise I made in return for being let out of here. We'll do that and something else."

It's better I tell him about it right now. He should know so that when it's time, he is not surprised.

" What do you mean by that?"

" I promised River and Amaya that we would cooperate in whatever they want so that they allow us to leave. They wanted assurance that once we left, we would betray them and come after them again."

" What did you promise them?"

I took a breath and told him everything.

" How is that possible? Hell fire? I've never heard of anyone using it before. I heard that it is difficult to obtain eternal fire, let alone control it."

" Well, I suppose they will figure it out. All we have to do is allow them to do it, and we will be out of here."

" If that is what you want, Alpha, then that is what we will do."

I was happy that we were on the same page. Knowing him, I thought he would protest and refuse.

After we finished talking, I remembered something. The letter that Sandra gave me for Julian before I left. I didn't read it. I could have, but I didn't want to read it before the recipient read it. As promised, I took out the letter and handed it over to Julian.

" What is this?" he asked.

" It's a letter for you. It's from Sandra."

" What? Sandra left this for me?"

He looked surprised. I don't know how deep their relationship is, but I know that Sandra definitely loves him. Only if he could have realized his own feelings sooner. Sandra must have left by now.

" She was the one who helped me out. She asked me to make sure the letter reaches you before leaving."

" She left? That is good. She deserves to be with someone who will love and value her. I've already messed things up, and it's too late."

I couldn't say anything about that. Only they can handle their issues. I've done my duty. Now, I wonder how long it will take for everything to be over. Only time will tell.
