Chapter 79: Thor's Lightning Ship-Slashing Blade

"Point the gun!"

The Six Powers - Shave was mastered by Ghost Spider, and his figure disappeared from the deck. His fingertips, coated in Armament Haki, struck fiercely at Asa's throat.

"Too slow..."

Asa's reflexes were sharp enough to react even to his own near-teleportation speed. Against Shave, which relied on explosive force to propel movement, it was as slow as watching a child crawl.

Now, he could clearly see the terrifyingly slow trajectory of the attack—without even needing to use Observation Haki.

"Sizzssssssssss!"

In a flash of lightning, Asa moved behind Ghost Spider and patted him on the shoulder.

"Behind you!"

"What?!" Ghost Spider realized his attack had missed. Before he could even process why Asa had suddenly vanished, a chilling voice came from behind, sending a shiver down his spine.

"Clang!!"

"Ghost Slayer!!" He unsheathed his longsword with a sharp clang, turning and slashing backward.

"You think you can catch me at this speed? Are you joking? Who gave you the courage?" Asa's voice came from behind again.

He could hear him, but he couldn't see him.

No matter how hard Ghost Spider tried, Asa remained invisible to him.

Even with Haki, he could only vaguely sense his presence. Despite his Spider-Spider Fruit's reflexes—far beyond ordinary humans—he couldn't even detect how Asa was staying behind him.

(For those wondering if Ghost Spider has eaten a Devil Fruit—yes, he has! While the anime never explicitly showed it, in the manga, during the war, he revealed his ability. Instead of wielding eight swords, a spider-like abdominal weaver appeared from behind his back, pushing up his Justice coat. If you don't believe me, go check the manga—I've confirmed it multiple times!)

If not for the crackling electricity whenever Asa moved, Ghost Spider wouldn't even have known someone was behind him.

A deep unease welled up inside him. Facing an opponent he couldn't even see was enough to shatter anyone's confidence.

This kind of terrifying speed was something only Asa could achieve at sea. Even Kizaru, moving at the speed of light, couldn't pull off such intricate, unpredictable movements to stay right behind someone at all times.

It was simply impossible.

"Hippolyte D. Asa! You dare to steal gold from the heavens, yet you don't have the courage to face me head-on?!" Ghost Spider roared in frustration, wildly swinging his sword, filling the space around him with sword energy.

Yet, no matter how he slashed—Asa was never there.

"A head-on fight?" Asa chuckled. "Sure! If there's one thing I love most—it's provocation!"

At that moment, Asa stopped moving and faced Ghost Spider directly.

"Die, you arrogant pirate!" Ghost Spider growled. If he didn't kill Asa today, this battle would haunt him as a nightmare forever.

"Shave..."

"Eight-Sword Style: Spider Demon Slash!"

His wild, unkempt hair flew in the air, almost transforming into terrifying spider legs. Drawing seven blades from his waist—adding to the one already in his hand—his eight arms slashed at lightning speed!

Ghost Spider's expression was ferocious. The cigar in his mouth burned to the end as he exuded an unyielding aura.

"Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!"

Fists clashed against blades in rapid succession. Asa allowed Ghost Spider's swords to strike at his hand, his iron fists crashing into the blades—sending sparks flying.

"How is this possible…?!" Ghost Spider's face twisted in disbelief.

For someone Asa's age, his body shouldn't have reached its peak yet, meaning his Armament Haki should have had limits. Ghost Spider himself had trained under Admiral Zephyr for years and had honed his Haki to its peak.

Yet—his blade couldn't cut through Asa's fist?!

Now he understood why Marshal Kong was so wary of a sixteen-year-old boy!

What Ghost Spider didn't realize was that Asa's body became stronger every single day—constantly evolving.

"You really thought you could arrest me alone?!" Asa sneered. "People have to bear the consequences of their choices. And you're about to pay the price!"

Asa's laughter grew wilder.

Wasn't he speaking these same words to himself? But in the pursuit of thrill and excitement, even if there was a price—Asa would never regret it.

"Thunder God: Lightning Ship-Slashing Blade!!"

Asa cackled, stretching out his right hand. Blue lightning arced between his fingertips, crackling violently as it gathered, condensed, and compressed.

A moment later—a massive, supercharged blue lightning blade took shape in his grip. The sheer density of the compressed lightning exuded a chilling pressure, illuminating the warship with an eerie glow.

The colossal blade emitted a subtle buzzing sound, vibrating at an extremely high frequency, like the beating of insect wings.

"What... is this??"

Ghost Spider was a hardened soldier, a man who—like Akainu—wouldn't even flinch in the face of death.

Yet—his body began trembling involuntarily.

He wasn't scared—his body simply refused to obey him.

As if he were standing before the judgment of the heavens themselves.

"RUN!"

Ghost Spider roared in desperation. Without a second thought, he launched himself into the air with Moonwalk, retreating at full speed.

"BOOOOM!!"

The moment he escaped—Asa swung his colossal lightning blade down with both hands.

The air twisted from the sheer force.

The warship was cleaved in half by the overwhelming blade.

Electricity flooded the sea. A deep fissure several kilometers long extended outward, as if the ocean itself had been split in two!

The entire navy fleet was swallowed by the sea—only a handful of soldiers survived, barely managing to escape thanks to Ghost Spider's warning.

The warship was completely obliterated—not even a single plank remained.

"You're not escaping either!"

Asa teleported into the air, dragging his 30-meter-long lightning blade. His sword surged with violent electricity, its sheer momentum enough to crush armies.

"Iron Body!!"

"Armament Haki - Full Hardening!!"

Ghost Spider roared, pouring everything he had into blocking the strike descending like divine judgment.

Asa adjusted his blue coat, stepped onto his ship, and resumed his planned course.

Before long, Jessica arrived with a hot meal, placing it in front of him with a smile. She didn't ask any questions—she already knew he had faced an enemy.

Twenty minutes later...

Two navy soldiers emerged from the sea, carrying Ghost Spider. Half of his body was charred beyond recognition.

Marine Headquarters

"Brrt, brrt, brrt!"

"Mo… Moshi Moshi, this is Kong speaking!"

"Marshal Kong!" The soldier's voice was trembling. "This is Lieutenant Ghost Spider's adjutant! We… we encountered Thor—Hippolyte D. Asa! Lieutenant General—he's dying!"

"What?!"

Kong's voice thundered with rage.

**"Asa's route has been confirmed! His next destination is—**the Sabaody Archipelago!"

"WHAT?!"

Kong's fury erupted like a storm. "Stay where you are! Reinforcements are on their way!"
